    Date Rape - Greg_L original

I've felt responsible for the uncomfortable lack of 'interest' in the drum forum since messing with you. Self flattery maybe. Your drumming in the beach boys thingie was much less pedestrian, but I didn't catch it until last night. There, I said it. Kind of?

    Date Rape - Greg_L original

I owe you an apology, grandma. Your shit is tight and the drum forum needs somebody to put no-searchin noobs in their place.

    digital drumkit

Watch ebay for quality components & build a set. If you have MIDI interface, the brain can have junk internal sounds... Just be sure it has MIDI OUT. Here's a few keywords for your research: Tama Techstar pads go for about $25 per, these use a standard 12" head. Very easy to repair with...

    The Mower

I like the song, it'd go well on a playlist with Black Flag's In My Head. Sounds like you need to drink more beer while mowing :p

    Drum wraps

Here is the dummy-proof way of wrapping drums, JamminSam. He pre-cuts everything to your measurements, and applies hi-bond tape at the seams. He gets a bad rap (heh) on drum geek sites, but I have nothing but praise. I rewrapped my tubs with his stuff the day after Christmas '03, took one...

    Lady Policeman

The guitar immediately reminded me of Who's Behind The Door by Zebra. I like both their version and yours ;)

    Snare Drum Head Shootout

You forgot the †† 'with my drum, mics, room, chain, ad nauseam' disclaimer. ... Not to mention what kind of drum and the mic process. There's noobs here, like me :D Good ol' Ambassador always wins on my wood snare, but Evans PCRD works better on the metal snare ††. Very cool study though...

    Vents in a snare drum

Vents 'dry out' the drum, allowing moving air to escape rather than dance around inside the drum. You hear more head and less shell. The result might be louder but at the cost of subtle dynamics. I think you'd kill the resale value by doing this, and be stuck with a one trick pony.

    roland midi?

I don't have any experience with that particular interface, but the top two google results for "layla 3g vista" featured Vista drivers... Yes, I'm bored. What soft synths can you trigger? Short answer - any. Depends on how much patience you have. I trigger tassman basslines with some...

Double kicks with out sound holes

A lot of (my) metal techique requires a closed bass drum for as much beater rebound as possible. I got to the point of being able to play double-strokes, then started cutting holes... No more double-strokes. Can be an expensive experiment. I've currently got a single mic (Senn e602) on back...

Much easier to enable the metronome in recording software ;)

    Snare Mic alternate to SM57

I got a happy sound with this setup. Took quite a bit of wrestling, an LP clamp, and some tom adjustments.

Latency ?? USB Card has a huge delay compared to the mobo soundcard

Probably a dumb question but is your input USB 2+? Using a cheap/slow USB hub? Don't laugh, it happens. If none of the above, maybe a BIOS flash update would help.

    Audio card for home use.

Sounds like you're well on your way. I'm right there with ya on the learning stuff. Was going to warn that drummers (with DAWs & guitarist friends) outgrow mic inputs particularly fast.

    Audio card for home use.

Your name suggests you're a drummer, do you want to record an acoustic kit with this setup?

How to make toms cut through mix?

The cheapest and easiest improvement I've found so far is switching to heavier sticks. Physically mounting the toms higher helped a little too.

What do I need to connect electronic drums to PC ?

You can control any soft synth with any e-drum brain as long as you have MIDI OUT from brain and IN to computer. I do it with an old Yamaha TMX, there's one on ebay now for $15.

Be nice guys, it took him a year to download it per post history.

    replacing my snare

If the snare you have now is wood, you'd expand your palette best by adding a metal. ...Or vice-versa. Best bang for buck metal (that I've purchased) is Tama Metalworks; 6.5 x 14, ten lug, & nice bag for $200.
