    Critique my drumming!

You're obviously a practiced drummer. The energy I feel playing along in my head doesn't come through the speakers at all. Maybe it's yourspace compression, maybe the mix sucks, dunno. I'd choke the singer & soundman.

Stage presence behind the drum kit!

You'll put your eye out, on top of the gay thing. Disclaimer: If you can play swiss triplets with your wiener at 240bpm, twirl away.

Stage presence behind the drum kit!

I forgot about the peeing thing... If you're playing bars practice drunk, or practice acting drunk. Birds of a feather & all that. Where I'm from the band is simply background noise for the drunkest guy in the place's antics. Do something they will remember, like peeing on them. For the...

    Junkie Whore - a Greg_L rock and/or roll original!

I'm noticing a theme with your stuff; beach punk. This Kentucky boy had to look at map to see where Katy is... Looks like within a reasonable drive to Gulf. I like but maybe a bit too Ramones'ish... Borderline socially acceptable. Would suggest raunching it up a bit, maybe a hardly audible...

Stage presence behind the drum kit!

Drink a case of beer before the show, everything else comes naturally.

    Recording Drums with Limited Channels

One on snare, one on bass, and two overheads. Overheads depend on room, kit, and band. Try Recorderman, Glyn Johns, and Coincident. Lots of work but no correct answer. I'm having best luck with the latter, but stuck in a crappy room with a Slayer freak "guitarist" with stack from hell on...

    Snare technique

Ironically, in one of his early interviews he credited much of his sound to "getting as much stick on the head as possible". Almost every hit a rimshot. I used to be one of his faithful followers.

    Vents in a snare drum

You'll have to try one & let us know :p Half of me discounts them as an OCDP gimmick, and the other half is trying to imagine what it would sound like.

    Vents in a snare drum

Saluda (cymbals) sells 20, 30, and 40 ply maple snare shells on ebay. Edges cut. If you've got an old snare in a closet that can be raped of lugs, hoops, & throw, all ya need is a drill & some beer.

Cymbals Selection for an intermediate player

Go to a 'big box store' like Guitar Center, hit their cymbals, note favorites, find used on ebay. $350 won't get much new bronze. I recommend Zildjian, Paiste, Wuhan, and Sabian :D

    So, how's your drunken Stoner-Dooming??

Cool! An old friend and I have been doing the same thing. Get slobbering drunk, hit record, thrash. Yours sounds better :D

    Drum classifieds

It's one of my daily stops, but with all that knowledge comes age... The crowd is older & a bit dry on the humor. There's some hardcore collectors there that buy & sell drums like others play the stock market. Best site for UK that I'm aware of is: http://mikedolbear.com/

I'm BACK! With VIDEO!!! Now you see me!

You should speak into the camera rather than do the text overlay stuff. You are much more visually interesting than your movie editing. Move the camera around, do 50 takes per paragraph. Youtube is GREAT for exposure, but their compression sucks. Try veoh in times like this when quality matters.

    Building a new computer myself

If you build a mac, it's referred to as a "hackintosh"... Anything with the word hack in it is gonna bite you in the butt later. I'm recording eight 30min+ tracks live on a three year old PC (AMD XP 3400, 1GB RAM, EIDE HDDs), you don't need a monster computer to get started.

Best way to double mic the kick drum

Tried one of those PDKP thingies? Metal disk in a rubber pad, gives the sound you're looking for (I think)... But all the time. If you play metal one day & jazz the next, not a good option. Felt beater will tame it a bit.

Best way to double mic the kick drum

Here's a little secret: Try doubling up the kick! Surprised nobody thought of that.
