Dubstep project, need a mix and arrangement critique

I've always known dubstep to be defined more by the half-step beat than by the modulated basslines. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm just going off what I've heard. I suppose mastering would have been a better word. I'm just looking for tips if something sounds mashed together or too quiet or loud or...

Dubstep project, need a mix and arrangement critique

Haven't posted here in quite a while. I've been working on this the past three days or so and since I'm somehow taking this song more seriously than I take most of my music, I'm interested in seeing what kind of suggestions I can get here. There are a couple bits that I'm currently horrified...

Any one interested in a collab effort?

Played around with it in my head while I listened through. I think I could at the very least get a nice precussion section in there, or perhaps do something with a piano if that doesn't work.

    Newish big beat track

I call this Big Round Bomb. It was basically an experiment in putting Electro-style sounds in a Big Beat song. I used some samples from "Feel the Rhythm" by DJ Mac and DJ Rob. Opinions, comments, bashes?

    The End

Put this together a couple months ago for a contest that never started, so me being impatient I simply released it lol. A lot of my friends and fans like this one, so I figured I'd put it here to get picked apart by this crowd. I'd really like to know what y'all think of this one!

    Short, mellow electronic WIP

Every so often, I sift through all my old, abandoned projects that I never finished because 1) they sucked or 2) I didn't remain interested long enough to finish. This song is one I uncovered when I was going through them a month or so ago. Anyway, right now what I've got is a...

    thought id attempt some dubstep

It's the big thing in enhancing the effects of recreational drugs. Same goes for Dubstep. Not trying to troll or get myself banned or whatever, I'm just saying it how it is.

    thought id attempt some dubstep

Dubstep did come from Reggae, but doesn't necessarily have to sound like it as the genre is defined by the drum beat. An easy 90% of Dubstep sounds nothing like Reggae. Anyway, I thought it was good, but could use more work on the bassline. It would sound a lot more "full" if you made it...

Great stuff. When you fix more of them up post them please! :)

Musician / Producer looking for feedback and perhaps colabs etc? :)

Mantis likes this. The only big problem I had was that the bassline was too quiet, as were many of the drums, except the kick. Also, the snare would do well to be a little..."bigger," for lack of a better word.

    I think my best yet

Epic song, sir. Loved the synth riff and a great video to back it up.

    Orbit - a trance song

Funny you should mention that, I listen to old school Techno and Acid quite a bit. Pretty much every song I make has some inspiration in it (I'd say there could be some Nostrum in here somewhere, in addition to F.U.S.E. like you said). Thanks for the comments!

    Orbit - a trance song

This is my newest song. I'm a bit concerned that I dragged the beginning out too long (that's been an outstanding issue with my songs in the past). I'm not sure anyone at this particular forum is even going to like this at all, but I'm proud of it anyway :D Feel free to comment and...

    My first try.

Don't keep bashing yourself, your guitar playing wasn't that bad. Not in my ears, anyway.

    My first try.

I rather enjoyed that actually. Catchy tune, good driving music to be sure. But you were right about the guitar playing; it really felt barely together during the solo. You might also consider a smaller crash that doesn't reverberate for so long. And you should change/remove the bending...

    Bassline fail. Seeking advice.

It's all pretty basic MIDI done in Live 7. All the stuff I do is simple because I'm still kind of feeling my way around that program, even after using it a year

    Bassline fail. Seeking advice.

This song has been "finished" for about a month or two, but I'm still a little horrified by how the bassline sounds. All muddled and weird. I've played around with it for a couple days and haven't been able to get it to my liking...anyone have some advice? Listen to 2:04 through 3:15 for the...

    Going to see what happens...

Actually, it eventually evolves into a sort of ambient trance, with full drums and everything. Personally, I really like the ambient beginning, which is why I chose to stretch it out longer than I normally would.
