BOSS BR-1180 CD/RW, Fender Cyclone, DOD Effects Pedal

I'm upgrading (I hope) to a BR-1160, and to do so, I'm gonna need a little more cash than I currently have, so I'm gonna sell some of my lesser-needed stuff. I have a year-old BOSS BR-1180 CD/RW recording studio complete with manual and a black carrying case ($80 value) which I just barely...

SIMPLY which 16 Track Digital Workstation?

If there are only 8 XRL inputs, does that mean the only way to record guitar is through an adapter?

Also, since I use powered monitors, when listening to the mastering track, where should I set the levels? Flat? I mean, if I have the bass and treble boosted or cut on the monitors, wouldn't that give an innacurate reading of how the tracks really sound? Please help.

    Feedback please "I'll Be Fine"

It seems pretty enough. But really, it's the vocals (and background music) that will be the real challenge, and it'll be interesting to see how they compliment the lyrics. I mean, "I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap Trick on paper seems really lame. But it turned out to be an excellent song!

Okay, from what I can tell, the best thing you can possibly do mix-wise by your recordings is to simply have them EQ'd and sounding good when you record them straight, so as to save from doing work later. And if you have to cut and boost too much, go back and start from scratch. Also, on good...

    Ugly Fruit

Good tune. Sounds like Godsmack. I think the mix isn't bad, but the drums seem to "stick out" a little, especially the cymbals.

    Hi, Clinic

My player is crappy, so it's hard to hear clearly. However, the vocals seem to kick major ass. Good work.

    What's wrong with this picture?

Musician's Friend is selling the MXL 990 Cardioid Condenser with a shock mount and carrying case marked down from $200 to $70. Has anyone used one? Is there anything wrong with it? I just need a semi-good quality vocal mic to record on my BOSS BR-1180 with.

    HELP!!! (Newbie seeking veteran advice)

I plug directly into the studio. I have a great Fender amp and a Quadraverb for effects, but the on-board effects just seem much better and the amp doesn't seem to make it sound better.

    HELP!!! (Newbie seeking veteran advice)

Last year I purchased a BOSS-BR1180, and I have had a lot of fun. Recently, I've also purchased two Edirol studio monitors, and shortly I'll be buying the Alesis SR-16 drum machine. For mics I simply have two AKG D 8000's which were on sale in musician's friend. My question is, now that I want...

Help! (General question, but specifically pertains to BOSS BR-1180)

Alright, I bought a brand new BOSS BR-1180 CDR/W last November. It seemed to be working fine until, one night, I did something very stupid. Attempting to get a live recording of my band, I used the power-out of our PA-Head (an 8-channel 600w Pevey) and plugged it in to line one of the recorder...
