It really isn't terribly much at all. If the band and I find a song that we can "make our own" I hope to release a CD with a cover. Pennies on the CD isn't much at all.

Agreed. I much prefer the business information in there though. I think reading about music business is a must for an aspiring artist. Too easy to get screwed otherwise. I find books about songwriting to be interesting, but wouldn't necesarily take them as gospel. Then again, you never know...

Say one wants to do self release a CD. This individual has finished the recording/mixing/mastering process. How much do CD's cost to print typically? If one were to buy a CD printer to print there own artwork, is a certain type of CDR required? Are those cardboard CD sleeves available...

To be entirely honest, I'm not quite sure your "bands at colleges" premise rings true, at least in my experience. I go to UCONN Storrs (the campus you think of when you hear UCONN) there are tons of bands indeed, but I don't recall ever hearing of a UCONN based group playing at the Jorg theater...
