    Good Small Valve Head?

On top is the Grandmeister 36, and on the bottom is #132 of those 200 that was mentioned. I have to use a step-up transformer for it since it's 220-240 and we're 110-120 here in the states. These are my "Den" amps so I can watch football and play at the same time. I also have XLRs run into my...

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Once we got to the fishing analogy and I started thinking about all the different forces and resistances involved, I decided my lack of knowledge about physics excluded me from arguing any further. In other words; if one can't argue a subject knowledgeably, then one needs to shut the fuck up...

    Your Opinion On Amp Sims

Guitar Rig 5 by Native Instruments and Amplitube by IK Multimedia are both good ones in the right hands.

Just had to throw some more shit in the argument didn't you?! LOL!

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Muttley is correct, but I still don't get it. Say you have a fishing pole with a light line on it. If you catch a small fish there won't be as much tension on the line and no need to worry about the line snapping. However if you catch a big, heavy fish, there will be more tension on the line...

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Wrong. Because of the neck's stiffness set for the heavier gauge strings, the lighter strings would have to pull harder. You have it backwards. Perhaps Muttley can enlighten you when he wakes up. What's your opinion Miro? LOL!

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

LOL! I leave for a few hours and come back to this! I think that we can all agree on one point, and that point is this: when one changes string gauges the truss rod may, or may not, need adjusting. It at least needs to be checked. I still maintain that if a guitars neck relief is set-up for a...

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Hell Miro, you're preaching to the choir! LOL! Every luthier, guitar tech I've ever talked to has recommended adjusting the truss rod when changing string gauges. Some guitars are manufactured with specific string gauges in mind and recommend not changing string gauges. I have a Gibson from the...

    LOL! An exercise in futility!

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Don't agree. It doesn't really matter since it's only a hundred dollar guitar! LOL! It's late in the UK and Muttely is probably sleeping, but when he wakes up tomorrow he'll probably give us a definitive answer. If we were in the same town I'd bet you beer! LOL! :drunk:

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

LOL! I think we're saying the same thing, just wording it differently.

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Now we're back to where we were. LOL! On a guitar with the neck relief set for heavy gauge strings, if you put light gauge strings on the aforementioned guitar without re-adjusting the neck, the lighter gauge strings will have more tension on them to bring them to pitch than the heavy gauge...

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

LOL! You get it! LOL! If the neck relief is set for lighter gauge strings then I imagine the tension would be the same as a heavy gauge string on a guitar with the neck relief set for a heavy gauge string.
  16. XploZiveToyz

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

You still don't get it! Because the neck relief is set for a heavy gauge string, if you put a lighter gauge string on it, it will have to pull even harder. Muttley can explain this better than myself, so I'll let him do so, but you(Farview) are misunderstanding what is being said here. No big...

    Good Small Valve Head?

I also remember watching a review by PremierGuitar Magazine about the Peavey ValveKing. If I remember correctly it got pretty good reviews. Might be worth checking out, Egnator is releasing a new version of the Rebel 20 and 30 in July. You might want to check that out also.

    Guitar String Tension after restringing

Muttley, you read my mind! LOL! I was just thinking to myself yesterday,"I wish Muttley was around so he could settle this argument once and for all!" And magically you appear! LOL! One can't argue with superior experience and knowledge. Unless one is dumbass! LOL! Was starting to wonder where...
