Adding a Mixer for use with software

Atwork, Thanks for the reply. The idea of using something like a POD for the guitar is a good idea. However, I've been enjoying using the Revalver amp simulator software to add the guitar effects in real-time (that way I can totally change my mind about the sound when I'm mixing). Still it's...

    newbie puts toe in water

Beaumont Rag The playing is great. The thing I noticed was a fair bit of backgroun hum and the start and end. You might want to hunt around your equalizer to find that and turn down that band. It might make it sound cleaner. -Steve

    New track "The Storm"

This is a nice tune -- good for background music. The mix is solid and I like the texture of the background music. However, I'm not in love with the sound of the lead synth. It's a little bit too soft (almost rubbery). I'd choose a voice with a little more bite. Just a suggestion. Keep up...

Hey! ..if we're allowed stupid songs, I got one

I'm not sure if you're posting this as part of a rant that is trying to prove a point, but if you actually want comments I'll go for it. 1. The rhythm guitar sounds kinda muddy. 2. The the lead gets lost in the mix. It actually sounds good when you can hear it (like during the solo) 3. This...

Adding a Mixer for use with software

I’ve started assembling a little home digital studio over the past month. I started by buying a copy of Cakewalk Guitar Trax Pro (I’m a guitar player so it sounded appealing). So far I’m using it to record some straight-ahead rock tunes using my guitars (electric and acoustic) and am using...

    March Leprechaun Music

You ever drive by a car wreck and just can't stop looking even though you know you should drive away as fast as you can? This song reminds me of that feeling, you know you shouldn't listen to any more but somehow you can't turn it off... I think I'll go listen again. -Steve

    Our Rock N Blues Band

Jesus Christ is King Wow, it's George Thorogood goes to church! :-) It's actually kind of catchy, but as others point out the mix needs some help. In particular you need to clean up the drums.

    Suggestions on my mediocre mix

This sounds good. The main suggestion I'd make is that after the rythmn guitar transitions from clean to distorted, it seems to mush in a little with the lead. You might want to do something in the mix to break them up (pan them apart a little more, or change the eq on one of them). -steve

new embryo songs for preview and critique...

Nice stuff Wow. Lots of good stuff here. Here are some random comments. I thought "Let me in" was great. "Waiting" left me "wanting" more. I kept waiting or it to take off, but it never did. "Conversation" is promising, but I think the rythmn guitar dominates. You might pull it down...

    First attempt comments needed

The guitar work is great. Here are a couple of suggestions: 1. For this kind of tune the drums should sound really BIG! They sound a little flat right now, so try tweaking your mix. 2. The guitar tone is a little muddy in places. What are you using for distortion and effects? -Steve

    Instrumental Guitar Rock

"Feel" > sounds like you're learning.... > watch the timing.. [and stiffness to the feel] You know the sad part is I started playing guitar 20 years ago. Geez, I feel old saying that. Anyway, I hadn't really picked up my guitar more than 10 times in the past 5 years until a month ago. My...
