I agree, but there is something about comparing two different types of mics, especially when we are talking about two cheap ones like these. To me, for the price, the SM57 sounds way more consistent. I was in hopes that this type of comparison could point out this line of thinking, you know?

I think that the guitars are too low on the mix, I cant hear too much details of it. Maybe bring em up a little bit and compressed them so that they dont clip. If you have the time, try doin that and maybe upload another version here.

I dont write with the mixing part of the process in mind...but I do have ideas for how some parts should sound. Sometimes that implies some mixing moves...but in my case I always tend to write songs with mic placements in mind, especially for drum parts.

I agree with geck zzed, the song should dictate whatever you do. That being said, I am horrible at fingerpicking, so me personally, I use picks.
