holy shit, those tascams are cheap. but i can't really warrant getting one if the difference will be only slight. although having a tape master would lend some coolness to my conversations........ i'm torn

i'm a long-time 424 user and i've come to prefer the sound of my recordings over the sound of my friend's digital recordings for whatever reason. but i recently sold the 424 because of money problems. now i have to record to my computer. i don't like the sound of my digital...
that'a kind of nice! the bass is a little too heavy. the guitar at the beginning sounds like it was conditioned to sit in the mix a certain way. so maybe remove some of the effects on the intro and make it sound good solo, then put the effects back on it when the mix kicks in. just an idea
the vocals are hard to hear. i don't understand your choices with the bass guitar. the drums make the mix sound messy. the stereo image is dull. there aren't any dynamics. the background noise at the beginning/end isn't artistic and seems like a half-hearted attempt to inject some creativity...
okay thanks for posting. i guess i didn't mean 'mediocre,' it's just that.... i was hoping to hear the reviewers say the mic blew them away for the money. and the reviews seem more or less reserved and not completely enthusiastic. and then i'll read a review of an mxl or an studio projects that...
does anybody have songs they've made with either of these? the reviews for them are really confusing. they say they're pretty good gen. purpose mics, but they seem kind of expensive if they're only mediocre. i want something for vocals and acoustic guitar. that's about it. i don't like the hyped...
