No problem. In a way, I should have listened to the original mix before I started, but in a way, it's good that this little issue came to light so that you could fix it in case a first timer gets ahold of it and freaks out...
I posted a second mix, can you listen and let me know if anything...
I got it. I guess I should have realized something wasn't right when the drums stopped before the rest of the song ended, but it sounded cool like that, so...
Anyhow, here is the new mix, same settings, just realigned the tracks..
Heavy is good. How did that mix sound? I really didn't listen to it outside of Reaper, so I don't know how it translates on something like Windows Media. Anyway, it was nice to be able to mix something, so I am happy.
If you have something else, bring it on. My ears aren't fatigued yet.
It's a great tune. All I really had to do was add some compression and eq. I am having some issues with the drum sound, but I am thinking I can overcome that. I have an initial mix, but I don't want to submit it yet...
Thanks! I am working on finishing up a 3d animation project right now, will start mixing in about an hour. I should have something worth looking at some time tonight, or tomorrow.
Cool. Ever since my studio got broken into and all my stuff taken, I haven't been able to record my own stuff. I would love to mix any one of these submissions. Point me to the track download!!!
What are you mixing with? A board, or software? Most mixing software has plugins which will do this for you. They are usually labelled 'stereo width' or sometimes just 'stereo', but the options allow you to lower the center volume and pump up the right and left volumes. If you use something like...
I think you got it. Sounds good to me. I like the guitars a bit wider in the mix, but that's a personal nit. Nice work. Now I'd like to hear you mix a whole song, with vocals...
Yeah, much better. The only thing I will say now, is let it rest. You can tweak it for 5 years and always find something else wrong with it. I am going to leave you a message on your site. Nice tune.
I will have to dig out an old example for you, but I usually high pass the bass around 100Hz also, to carve out room for the kick. It keeps you from having to boost the kick to get it to stand out. Since it sounds like you probably tracked the drums right, it shouldn't be too hard to get them to...
That sound really good. The only thing I would suggest is to high pass the guitars around 150Hz to bring out the bass a bit more. The drums sound good to me too, but like you stated, Greg is the man to ask about that.
Or just give it a touch with a compressor. Nudging up the volume alone will make the rest of the track too loud. Using a compressor sparingly will even out the track and bring up the low spots without making the high ones too loud. But be careful with it, overdoing it will ruin it. You can hear...
I am not much better off. See the link in my signature as proof of that....
I don't even own a video game system because I don't want couch potato kids. They are active and play outside all day. No junk food, and no video games. Snacks are carrot sticks or apple slices. At least I did that right...
