is it better or worst to have the +20 db mic boost setting on on my pc volume control mic setting? the soundcard itself adds noise even the mic isnt in. i have a sound blaster audigy and a yamaha mg/10 mixer which i use as my mic preamp also.

i'm talking about a mackie mixer compared to a presonus preamp. and where do they plug their mic to capture the sound? like what type of amps and sound card or whatever they use?

i have a yamaha mg/10 mixer and a 24 bit sound blaster audigy sound card. i plug my mic into the preamp on the mixer and then i connect my mixer to the sound card and record like that. i noticed that when people plug their mic into an interface preamp, the vocals sounds way better than the way...

yea i have a pop filter. do u mean roll off low end on the mic while recording or when mixing?

if i have to go closer to the mic, do i have to reduce the gain and output level so the mic won't clip and sound harsh on certain words?

i don't have a good vocal booth to record so i just record in the closet. i heard that if you don't want the room to effect the vocals that much than you should turn the gain down real low. i turned down the gain pretty low but now my vocs are low and when i raise the output level it's just more...
