    Marshall 2555 amp thoughts?

Is it any different if the Jubilee I looked at was in a black tolex box and not a silver? I doubt that it's going anywhere anytime soon; it's a small shop in a small town and amps don't seem to move too quickly there - especially at that price point. I still think there's a chance I can grab...

What about DIY pedals? Any "trusted" resources for kits?

Sorry about that, Tadpui! :D If it makes you feel any better, I did have an issue with one of the builds... But, that was builder error, before I knew what everything was, and it was easy enough (and good practice) to fix. Like I said, I'm an addict now - my wishlists on GGG and BYOC haven't...

What about DIY pedals? Any "trusted" resources for kits?

I built the normal version; I have built two of their mini pedals and I think that's all I care to do. IMO it's much easier to fit everything in the normal size enclosure than in a mini - you have to be very careful on the mini kits to keep your wires from the jacks to the PCB short enough so...

What about DIY pedals? Any "trusted" resources for kits?

Sorry for the late response, Nola, I haven't checked this thread in a while. Long story short, I've built 7 pedals (and modded a Boss SD-1) since I started this thread, and they all do what they're supposed to do. I've been sticking with vintage pedal clones so I really don't have any basis of...

    Marshall 2555 amp thoughts?

Well, I had a chance to do that this afternoon. It's a small shop so I wasn't able to crank it but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind... Like Greg said, through miner's post, it wasn't the "classic" marshall sound. So, I didn't get it. I really want that JCM800 but I won't be able to swing...

    Marshall 2555 amp thoughts?

Truth... A little overambitious on that one!

    Marshall 2555 amp thoughts?

Loud is not a bad thing; I've got 4 days until I get to actually plug in and try it (and the JCM800) out but I think I may be coming home with a new (to me) Marshall head (2555, for the sake of the budget) if I play my cards right. Thanks to everyone who responded; I really appreciate it...

    Cheap Fender Style Parts

Check out Guitar Electronics.com. My setup guru up north told me about this site; we're working to trick out a cheapo squier strat that I got for pennies on the dollar a while back. This is the site he gave me to check out for different pickup wiring diagrams - there should be more than enough...

    Cheap Fender Style Parts

Ecc83 has talked about Maplin for components over there in the UK. I haven't dug around their site at all so I'm not sure what all they would be able to supply but it would be a start in price checking at least, if they have the stuff.

    Chibson Thread

I was going to suggest keeping the Tele, that thing looked badass (still trying to fit one into my budget). Depends on what you can get for the Washburn, I guess. If it'll provide enough funds to get a used LP Studio that's how I would roll. I'm in the same boat as Miner, got my LP new for...

new amp day! Fender Deluxe Reverb!

I'd say a Fender "Pro Tube" Twin Amp. 100 all-tube watts pumping through 2 x 12" speakers. Weighs a metric ton and it's load as all hell. It's got the classic Fender clean tone and it can scream on the crunch channel; it's got some gain on tap. Controls are on the front, too. Only problem...

    NAMM Releases

It looks a little odd but, if the adjustment point is not accessible at the headstock end of the neck, I'd rather be able to make my adjustments with that eyesore than have to remove the pickguard or neck completely to make any adjustments. Those elite guitars look pretty nice outside of that...

    "studio" pic

Dude, it's about all you need right there. A mic stand might help, like miner said, but i'd almost look around and see if there are any mods for the HM-2 that make it more useable. If it's a small change, a few diodes or an opamp, it won't cost much in parts and won't take long to DIY either...

    Marshall 2555 amp thoughts?

That's what I've found, too, just never had heard much about the original - seen plenty on the reissue though. I'm pretty stoked if I can work around the finances to make it fit in the budget; it'll be my first amp head since I used to gig with a crappy tech21 solid state back in the day. I...

Looking for the thread about the MXL 990..

    Maybe this thread? https://homerecording.com/bbs/equipment-forums/microphones/mxl-990-there-samples-before-after-capacitor-mods-385941/

    Marshall 2555 amp thoughts?

I have just been offered dibs on a Marshall 2555 amp head; not a reissue but the original from the 80's. Fully functional and well taken care of for $950. Same shop has a JCM800 from the same owner for $1899 but that's a little more than I care to spend at the moment. Has anyone ever used...

    Waves GTR3 on sale 1/23/2016

It's on sale today for $49 if you need a half decent guitar sim. Not as feature-packed as Amplitube but there are some good sounds in it for practice.

New instructional series - would love some opinions

Personally, the content is not bad but the volume differences of your speaking voice and your playing are a little off. This is more in reference to the second vid of yours, not so much the first (the one you linked to in the OP). Frankly, I liked the first and have been working it out over...

Nice Rack-Mount Channel Strip with Pre and EQ-Chameleon Labs 7602 MkII

Not to nitpick, but Sweetwater is just a tad over 2 hours from Indy, unless you live on the furthest north area (then it's about 1:55). :D I have not been to a gearfest yet; next year is my year though as I'll be living about 20 minutes outside of the Fort. Sweetwater has a bunch of stuff...

Amp + mic (recabinet 4) suggestions?

The only thing I would say is to try using the royer or the senn 421 instead of the 545 alongside the i5. The 545, from what I can tell, is the predecessor of the SM57 (also a good mic) but you're essentially stacking dynamic mics. May not work the same within the software but I've gotten...
