Wow, really didn't think it would spiral out of control like this...
Thanks for the pointer to change the pots; all of the stuff I've read have been in regards to changing a resistor in the circuit to a higher value but it didn't really seem legit.
And, for what it's worth, I was...
Greg: Yeah, the "hair trigger" volume makes sense... The thing is that on this amp it happens so early on. It goes from barely bedroom volume between 0-1 and then goes straight into blowing the windows out at 2. I'm comparing this to 10 other combo amps from Orange and Marshall to other...
I've had one for quite a few months now but haven't really messed with it over my other amps. Played it when I brought it home for a few days and then it has just sat.
My question is in regards to the volume of this thing. I guess I didn't remember it being so loud, which is fine for me...
Phrasemaker, do you have any other Vox amps? Curious how the AC10 compares to the AC15 outside of the wattage, etc. Does the 10 have the normal and top-boost channels?d
I'm not sure what you mean by "more/different"... It sounds like you would be just fine using just about any of those DAWs you listed, with the exception of Audacity.
Personally, I use Cubase and do just about the same as what you're describing. Track guitars, VST drums (usually), bass...
Maybe it's just the hard water I have here; I got the white film from tap water and I'm running the kind with the heating elements, too. After about 2 days I had to clean off all the tops of my amps, my monitors, etc, and there was a ton of mineral buildup on the element. Distilled water...
After moving from Houston to Indiana (we still get a fair bit of humidity from the gulf stream) this is my +1 to Miro's post. Living in hot-n-humid Houston, no issues. As soon as the winter of 2013 hit up here, a few of my guitars started shredding my hands. The fret ends crept out as the...
+1
The TH30 was the first amp to come to mind when I read through the OP. Even on the 7 watt setting it gets loud enough but it can do that loud with a solid clean as well. It also takes pedals like a champ, too.
Miner, going back to the P-Rails pickup, duncan makes a replacement mounting ring called the triple shot that would be an easy way to control those P-Rails without drilling for mini switches or installing different pots. I almost went this route with my Epi LP special destruction/modification I...
I've got the TB12 and I would say it's probably my favorite, even over my Neve 5017. It's got a few different options - switchable opamps and transformers - that can provide some great flavorings if you push it a little bit. (My preference is the 50% nickel transformer and the 917 opamp...
Wow, thanks. I thought I had a clear understanding of these 3p2t switches but I guess not. FWIW, all of my continuity checks were done from the tip of the plug in the input jack since that goes directly to the switch. Not sure if that helps it make any more sense though...
Edit - just...
I'm still more or less a rookie when it comes to electronics; learned my fair share about the components but ran into a potential weird issue with a switch last night. Finished a WayHuge Red Llama OD clone, had to get it just because of the name, and it was an easy build. Very easy. 9...
I would also suggest upping the RAM to 8gb if possible; even if just for the sake of somewhat future-proofing your laptop if you end up getting some VST instruments or plugins that are hogs, like MJB said.
No dynamic mics? I get that there's probably a budget involved, even though there was...
From what I can remember, you should have told SuperDrum where the sample library was going to be located during the install process.
Can you open SuperDrum as a standalone (outside of Cubase)? If so, then do that and there should be a menu option to locate the library (may not be worded...
FWIW, I've got a PR-40 (and 2 other Heil mics that are similar) and I haven't ever had any hiss like the mackie results recording them using a Focusrite interface. I would agree with the suggestion of the AI instead of the mixer.
Another thing that you could try to use to bring up the levels...
Well, this bad boy right here:
Will be here Wednesday. I'm stoked beyond belief but I'm gonna have to thin back the herd a little more to make room. It will be strat #5 in my collection but also my #1 go-to; a month at most before that neck is my second home.
My other American strat, this...
