Space and finances are always an issue but I don't honestly think I'd get much for any of it on eBay and I don't need much room for my feet under the desk... ;-)
I've been looking at my set-up and specifically stuff I just never use, for a while now. And after a lunch trip to friends yesterday, while the wives talked babies the lads went into his cellar studio and I retrieved more of my gear that was on loan that he's no longer using...
So now I've got...
This ain't a forum that respects hip hop (this much is clear when reading posts in the 'other' sections...
ILL Musik is a nice forum but real quiet. Future Producers is definitely more hip hop oriented but an obviously younger crowd. Gear Sluts is useful but there's a definite clique with some...
What are you actually asking bruv?
You're coming across as a little bit angry... You know this is the internet right?!
If you want to 'do a rap'; we (the internet) definitely ain't stopping you. You should totally 'do a rap'.
We (the internet) are looking forward to hearing it.
I'm off to...
The zoom r16 the OP mentions might actually be the best option for him.
It can be used as either a standalone HD recorder (records wav to SD card) or as a soundcard for his laptop (and a basic DAW controller) ... The thing is pretty adaptable...
I don't know off hand how many phantom powered...
The 219 is definitely 'darker' sounding than the NT1a.
The NT1a has a 'sharp' sounding high end.
The NT2 sounds 'better' than both.
The SE2200a IMO has a sparkle that is more pleasing than the NT2 and in my experience requires a lot less EQ.
The Steinberg drivers are likely to be much more stable than Behringer's. That combined with the Yamaha preamps (I think they're updated versions of those in the N12 mixer) make them well worth the extra lay-out IMO.
But the UR44 also has a DSP fx chip... Makes it very easy to run, say reverb &...
Despite the 57 being a great workhorse of a mic you'll end up wanting an LDC anyway...
Question is do you want to have to buy a second LDC when you realise the AT2020 isn't quite giving you that sound you want...
I'd save double your budget and go for something better. SE2200 or Rode NT-2a...
My last laptop (Samsung) had a really noisy fan... I never noticed really til I got my present laptop (Dell) which is practically silent in comparison.
My desktop at work is noisy as hell! We have 5 different desktop computers in the office, stand in the middle of the room and you only hear...
Might be worth you finding quality wav's of the samples you want using and linking to a Dropbox account... You haven't mentioned budget (not a big thing to some yet MASSIVE to others) so it'd save anyone who fancies it a job...
Personally JB's 'I Feel Good' isn't a sample I'd feel comfortable...
Thought I'd start a thread for people to post music featuring samples taken from records bought on the cheap at charity/thrift stores, boot sales etc...
This is a work in progress from a really nice record that cost me 50 pence at a charity shop on the high street during my lunch break last...
I have to use headphones once the boy's gone to bed... But I don't 'mix' in them. Use them for 'making' and recording (vocals and acoustic as well as drum programming/ sample chopping) after boy's lights out)
I use the classic Beyer Dynamic DT's... Comfy as hell and I can wear them all night...
I listen to hip hop in my car, via my iPad, through Bluetooth.
At work we have a crappy radio but I'll sometimes use headphones if I'm doing a job where I'm not expected to have to speak to my colleagues.
At home I mainly listen to jazz, soul & funk through my monitors... Often listening for...
Anything I 'record' with a mic is done with monitors switched off... So vocals, acoustic guitar & 'live' percussion are monitored through headphones when tracking...
My drums come through Maschine (so a non-issue) and Bass Guitar is DI'd so obviously I leave the monitors on for those sources...
Here's one from a few weeks ago (and my old Pops) and a couple from this evening.
Getting a carpet laid on the weekend and then I can move my stuff back into the house.
Just the baby's room to sort out now!!
