I think that's a good idea - to be honest I don't think you'll have to do too much in order to get good results. You don't want a dead room - just one that's controlled.
Enjoy it.
I'm still envious of your door...
Yep. Your computer will run the Scarlett driver instead of the (Realtek?) onboard cards one.
You should hear a vast improvement in audio quality but equally important is that the Scarlett should process your audio more efficiently than the onboard soundcard - taking pressure off your CPU.
I...
It doesn't look like you really have any other option but to set up as you have.
Get some bass traps in the corners and cover the areas of first reflection and see how your mixes come out.
I like the room to be honest - it appears to have a proper door (as opposed to a hole in the floor and a...
This is good to know. The multi pattern SE2200 is currently my only mic!
Steenamaroo - Alex and Paul at Pro Audio Systems in Bradford are very good at fixing things. Might be worth giving them a call if you don't have a local repair guy (I'm sure there's a decent proaudio repair man in the...
If your wanting to capture PC gaming the 'Fraps' is your best bet. You'll lose upto 25% of your frames per second but still the best way.
If it's Xbox/PlayStation you're wanting to capture then you should be looking at game capture cards such as 'Elgato' or 'Hauppauge'. Some cards allow you to...
Have you tried walking into a used record store - explaining that the 78 has recordings of you grandad and asking if there's any way they could digitise it?
Or try a local studio that does work with the hiphop community - they should definitely have the tools...
If the window is a point of first reflection can your set up be moved so that it isn't?
If it isn't a point of first reflection - a curtain (as described above) should be enough.
If it is a point of fr - and you can't move your rig... Maybe a rockwool gobo (timber frame) mounted on runners...
I've used the Rode NT1 and found it a bit fizzy in the highs.
The NT2 lessons that fizz substantially and seems to capture more depth overall but I still prefer my SE2200 MKII
Never had a chance to use the Neumann or the NTK - though I imagine you wouldn't want to push the valve in the NTK too...
I use the Abbey Road pack a fair bit (it came with Maschine).
I generally use 3 to 4 hi-hat sounds to a loop

Closed-ish
Open-ish
Open-more-ish
It's important that none of these physically clash so set them on their own choke group - that way a shorter strike of a closed hat will kill the...
Firstly. Your wife is awesome. Both very good gifts.
Unfortunately, imho the cheapest option would be to box up and sell the apogee jam and pick up a 2in/2out USB audio interface - Focusrite's Scarlett Solo runs at just under 80 quid, has 2 inputs (1 x Hi-z guitar + 1 x mic preamp) and should...
My first recording set-up we built a vocal booth in the corner of our rehearsal space - and ended up using it as a control room for tracking because the vocal sounded much better in the room.
I saw a really good quote by someone ages ago that's stuck with me.
"Your microphone does not record...
Got 6 spread through the house
The cheap Fender acoustic in the livingroom sees the most action - actually very nice sounding and fun to play.
I have a Chet Atkins nylon from a local luthier, a Washburn acoustic and my bass in the studio. But apart from the bass they don't see much use as I make...
I realise this is an old thread but just wondered if any of you still use the POD?
I have the 2nd versions of the both the red and black (bass) beans - my kid uses the red one for guitar practice and I use the black one for recording bass.
I've tried a couple of plugins (mainly NI Guitar Rig)...
