Thanks andrushkiwt. That female vocal has been "a challenge" to mix to get it just right. I have done the panning thing but it didn't have the effect I wanted. Although it is automated where you mentioned, I'll pull it up a bit more and see if it levels out a bit better.

Thanks Chili - bought the U87 last February and it's a real nice mic. I've retired my Sputnik and NTK which got me by for a long time. I've gotten a few kick comments from other posters so I'll trim that back a bit, that may let the rest of the kit through so we'll see.

In My Car - In Key?

I'm not sure V-Vocal is even available on a retail basis. It was a freebie with Sonar but a quick Google shows nothing on a retail basis. It must be a plugin but I'd have to look. It is not compatible with Sonar 64bit so I have to open an old version for it to work.

In My Car - In Key?

I know Melodyne is popular but I still venture back to an older version of Sonar and use V-Vocal (it's obsolete now so not sure how long that will last on an OS basis). Sonar includes basic Melodyne but it really doesn't have the features I prefer.

Thanks Snow, I get your meaning, and it's cool. I have heard more open mixes here so I know what you're referring to. Could be arrangement, mixing or a little of both - I'll have to research this a bit.

    Dual Mono Compression

Do you have 2 of them? It sounded like just 1. But if you have 2... it will work IF both units respond the same way. I've just read (never experienced) that same type units vary so there is that possibility of mismatched compression. As a precaution I would try it out before the drummer gets...

Maybe I should have called this song Irony. You might see why as you get towards the last verse... Anyway, I'm looking for any feedback on the mix good or bad, as you hear it. Thanks! Google Play: WAV - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7IadKZ1K8uUdXZEOVFuLUYzem8 MP3 -...

    Bass Question re: pickups

Do some recording tests and find out what fixes the problem. There is no pat answer to this and we don't know what kind of bass, amp, method of recording, amp settings, amp eq, bass knob settings, etc etc you are using. It's amazing how much you can learn by just trying different things instead...

HP will take mud and clutter out of you mix. Too much and it has no body. Too little and everything is fighting for attention.

Walk Me On the Water with Jimistone and ibleedburgundy

Feet of clay reminds me when we used to get stuck in the sticky spring mud and would have to leave our rubber boots there and walk home in our socks. No offence to your previous singer but Jimi's vocals are better in tone and timbre. It gives the song some real beef in that area. This song...

Finished another remix -- anything very noticeably off?

I guess we agree to disagree. Personally, I don't enjoy listening to off key music or vocals. Your reference to Greg_L makes me chuckle.

Finished another remix -- anything very noticeably off?

If you don't know when something is pitchy or off key, that's a problem. Music may be subjective, but off key vocals are not (or instruments for that matter). It's easy for the average listener to pick up on that shortcoming. They will either... turn it off right away, or think it's a joke but...

Finished another remix -- anything very noticeably off?

Vocals are pitchy and you tend to slide up to notes rather than hit them right away. The lead guitars are either out of tune or you need to learn to bend them more accurately. The lead guitars are harsh and too loud, try a different pedal/patch or amp setting and smooth them out. Drums could...

I'm BACK! With Three New Records.

Not a spotify subscriber so I can't listen. Just in case you're wondering why a lack of responses. Also this should be in the Marketing section as it appears these are "done" and you're not going to make any changes we recommend.

Mint condition 90s Vantage for starter electric guitar?

Not if you know how to set them up, or if you block them. I have used mine blocked and unblocked and they are fine. Mine is blocked as I don't need to dive bomb now that I don't play EVH songs in cover bands.

Cool Jason ! It sounds great and the video was really fun to watch. Side note to all you HR guys - Jason does the drums on all our tracks so if you need real drums, get in touch with him. You will be very happy you did.

Mint condition 90s Vantage for starter electric guitar?

My advice is buy a good guitar that plays well, has good intonation, comfortable neck/body. Mint condition garbage guitars are just garbage. A well made guitar is easy to play and won't distract you from learning because of some defect/shortcoming. If you don't end up sticking with it you will...
