How should I go about Selling my Own Midi pack ?

You may be right. I think there is a section in the forum to post mixes and such. Different people use it for different things at different levels of listenability, talent, and value. Might be a good idea to put together a "demo" of the same sort of format any other audition tape would be...

How should I go about Selling my Own Midi pack ?

Not to discourage, but I'm trying to understand what you bring to the table. I have thousands of midi files of known and popular songs. I can get into trouble with copyright or not depending on a lotta things (uh-oh, i used an 'expert' word). But I can use them within limits. I can change...

When is the last time you saw one of these?

Maybe it doesn't much matter, but -- As we all know, Bill Lear (of Learjet fame) is the inventor of the 8 track and made loads of loot from this thing in the 70s. Helped keep Learjet in bizness during some tough times before they were passed around to other billionaires -- at one time known as...

Which DAW would best fit my specific needs?

Reaper is always the best. It meets every need. :-) Seriously, every modern DAW will do everything you mention and probably about everything you can think of. Some are more convenient than others but that has nothing to do with the DAW. Some are very convenient -- if you think like the...

Turning my motorcycle into a musical instrument

This whole "on the road" thing doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. After all, piloting the vehicle shouldn't come with distractions. However, Recording all the inputs against a time base and then dumping that data back home in your FL studio is a GREAT idea. Your bike could essentially be your...

    ADAT to Computer

okay, i'm absolutely not trying to rub your nose in anything, but yes, it's a lesson learned. Thinking of your situation in the early morning while trying to sleep, it came to my mind I have a number of pieces languishing on an old OS9 Mac because of the dead end software I had been using. It...

    ADAT to Computer

I don't think anyone would question the nobility of your intentions, I know I don't. And you're right, when there's a conversion involved in or out of analog, then yes, lotsa gotchas. But take the ADC or DAC out of the mix and it's pretty ordinary. Especially these days when memory is cheap...

    ADAT to Computer

The 2408 doesn't use Firewire. It uses Firewire connectors and cords. It uses Audiowire, which is MOTU's connectivity between the PCI card and the 2408. If it's merely a driver issue, I'd like to learn about that, too. Because I've never seen that done.

    ADAT to Computer

If you're going straight into a computer and remaining in the digital domain, then it doesn't really matter how good it is because all it really does is simply convert data formats. When the pre-amps get involved, that's when various component quality issues actually matter.

    ADAT to Computer

Doesn't it have lightpipe/TOSlink? Use that and stay digital all the way, if you can. MOTU 2408, especially an old one, can be had on the cheap. Well, the PCI card is harder to get these days, though. Behringer makes a 8X preamp that takes TOSlink in. A/DA8000? or something like that? But...

    old piano hacks

Dunno how OLD it has to be but the DX7 was their very first midi kb and it was more or less fine. It had some abbreviations. Only transmit on Ch1 Transmit velocity 1-100 instead of 0-127. But you can't argue with their midi integration. Every parameter. Pretty sweet. Some of the PS series...

Now Available Mac Pro Rackmount! Get your BIG CHECK BOOK OUT!

They're trying to be like the Old Days when a 386 setup could cost $10K. But you gotta admit, it's quite an engineering achievement. They were able to cram a $200 computer into a $6500 package.

Me, me, me! I'm not interested. I wanna be first in line to not be interested. Unless you want money, then I might be.

How to restart? been gone awhile

Still got mine. Okay, not my original. Had to go down the same path you did and then buy it off of ebay when I had bucks. But I call it mine.

How to restart? been gone awhile

Anyone that can be out of something for 10 years has a little seasoning. I've had an idle period or two in my life. No indictment, there. Lessons learned: Don't throw good money after bad. Just because you've stuck with it doesn't mean you need to stick with it. So sure, if you're comfy with...

    "Marine-Grade" Baltic birch plywood

I believe you get no-void ply by simply selecting A-A or A-B grades. Both are pricey furniture stuff, but it seems like there's always an extra premium placed on "marine grade". Marine grade is supposed to be water-resistant (none of it is really waterproof) but like Gekko said, it's probably...

    Biggest midi interface...

Well, this sorta gets me going. The MOTU stuff is probably the way i'll hafta go. 8x8 is a pretty good start, anyway. I looked at a couple of compositions with the intent of combining some of the traffic and it looks like it might fit - if everything works right. Who knows? Might end up...

    Biggest midi interface...

As it happens, I'm Operating System and Hardware Agnostic. I'll go Reaper on any platform and any system that I can get the interfaces to work with.

    Biggest midi interface...

Yes, what you describe is something i've done, too. So sure, that much is covered. Picture it this way, a guy has many midi tracks in a song, assigned and destined to many different instruments. Transferring all that from one DAW to another is not too big of a deal. But playing it all back...
