DMA should be switched on. It makes a factor 10 difference with my setup.

The solder should melt on the material you're soldering, not the tip of the soldering iron. Don't blow on a solder joint to make it cool faster. You'll only end up with a cold solder joint. Practice your skills a on cheap whatever cable before you start on the expensive stuff.
