Give a little listen here there anywhere.... BAM!

FYI, the acoustics were Washburn D10 Acoustic/Electric pickups hard panned, along with an MXL 67 mic panned center for a more natural sound. 3 takes.

Give a little listen here there anywhere.... BAM!

I agree with both of you. The drums are awful. They are the only samples I had at the time. I will eventually get the time to redo the entire song (with a metronome this time!) and fix a lot of these issues.

Give a little listen here there anywhere.... BAM!

As per your requests... The jazzy drummed-up version from 2002 with the newer vocals put in. http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=2641 I told ya it was messy.... and too loud!

Give a little listen here there anywhere.... BAM!

Thanks for listening, Sile. A couple of things: 1) I recorded this song 1 year after I first picked up the guitar and started singing, etc... I did not use a metronome. The song is supposed to all be 1 tempo. 2) I did have drums in this song. I added them a month or two after I initially...

MSI K8N Neo2 and Neo4 are both good, solid boards. The Neo2 is AGP, the Neo4 is PCIe

    mixing advice, new tune

Definitely lacks high end clarity, no sparkle or depth. Also needs some richness in the lows (100-300 Hz). Some slight compression/limiting on the snare with some reverb and EQ action should make it snappy and big.

    Looking for Opinions.

The song has a lot of potential. It really lacks sparkle and impact tho. On the other hand, I really dig the song. If you feel like it, I have some spare time and if you need a 2nd perspective on of the song, feel free to PM me and I'll do a 2nd mix for ya. Let me know. Great song man...

Some new songs to check out.

Are the guitars run thru an emulator of some type or are they amp'd and mic'd?

A new song to listen to

No problem. i didn't mean that the singers voice was bad or anything. Its quite strong and solid, actually. But, the instrumentation of the song somehow gave me the idea that the vox and music didn't quite fit together, but as I listen on to it, I am used to it and it doesn't really bother me...

Major Overhaul of 1st Song post. Please Please give a listen

Oooh Ooooh, pick me! I like bringing the dead to life.

A new song to listen to

musically not too bad, the fake drums take away from the song a lot. The singer has an incredibly low bass voice. I personally think its not what the song calls for neccesarily, due to the song's lightness and quickness. If the singer can sing one octave higher, I would like to hear it. I think...

Have XP Media - should I change?

I would more than likely attribute that to the simple fact that OEMs that build their machines with WinMCE typically put in cheap TV tuner cards, sometimes with proprietary drivers. Any computer with crappy PCI add-in cards and (more than likely) flaky Firewire PHY's will have issues.

    Mobo is dead...recommend replacement

Unfortunately, RME's findings are not the end-all-be-all results. RME did their experiments on early editions of nForce4 silicon, and more importantly, on early versions of nForce4 Chipset/GART/PCI-E drivers. I would think that a revisit to these nForce4 'problems' would be attributed to...

Have XP Media - should I change?

FYI, Windows MCE is built upon WinXP Professional and has no performace impact if the actual media center shell has never been activated. It has all the file permission settings and remote desktop shell, just like XP Pro. The difference is merely one process that monitors your scheduled TV...

    Mobo is dead...recommend replacement

I have built 3 different rigs using AMD's nForce4 (differs from the intel version big time) and have seen zero problems. The nForce4 boards for intel CPUs used to have mosfet undercurrent, where under load from the room heaters... I mean, Prescotts, the CPU's operation would become unstable. I...

Give a little listen here there anywhere.... BAM!

  I would be pissed! But then again, it has happened to me too, except when it happened, I was in the middle of recording a track that I really dug... it was craptacular.

As promised to some, an old one, with new vocals I re-did over the holidays. Its really rough right now, but you can get the general flavor of it. Let me know what you all think. http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=2427

    ART Pro VLA vs Blockfish?

I dont think the VLA will get you what you want. It is slightly colored, but not in the aggressive manner you require. I would describe its nature as textured with a slight smearing that may or may not help you get the sound you are after. Plus, it lacks control, such as attack and release...
