Thanks Dudes,
I'm 99.9% sure one is Master, the other Slave. What frame rate should it be set at? I'll re-check next time I'm at the machines. I'm busy with "life" right now, but thanks much for your help. I let you know what I find out- AND PROBABLY BEG FOR MORE HELP!
Also, does it matter...
I set one to Master, run the midi cable "out" to the "in" of the slave machine. When I hit "play" on the master machine, the slave machine doesn't start. Any help out there?

Re: Re: Question:
Ok. Problem I have is this: I have NO IDEA of the BASIC equipment needed to do this. Can you recommend a program that would explain all the wires/hardware needed to pull it off? Thanks.

Perhaps I confused you
Reel,
Thanks for your reply. I know the mixer section is analog. What I mean't in my question is: If I have 2 machines linked together, how do I get the output of the 2 machines(fd-8's) to the input of 1 machine (marantz cd recorder)?
You dig?

Configuring output??
When linking to machines, during regular recording/playback, how do you aquire the output of both machines? Likewise, how do you get a digital mix? How do you route both signals to one DAT or CD recorder?

I have the SR-16. I'm an x-drummer, turned guitarist. You ARE hosed. Only lately have I learned which samples work best for ME. Basically, don't use any with reverb, unless you like it, or have a limited amount of "effects" options.
Good luck.

All you guys are right, from what little I've tried it.
"You have to have it loud enough in your headphones to keep the beat and keep the timing "electronic" which is not natural for a human player."
Right drstawl. Loud is a huge help- and absolutely necessary.

I'm wanting to overdub snare on some tunes. I want to use (keep) the kick from the original drum machine patterns. Actually, I'll be overdubbing toms and cymbals too. I'll probably do snare/toms together, then come back with cymbals. I've tried this before and gave up because my timing sucked...
Ahh, I see. So, really, when I'm mixing, I should only use my effects "post." Unless I want to fade down, leaving only the effect in the mix.
Thanks DeadMan

If you have enough tracks to spare, I would leave them seperate. That way you can either pan them both middle- or pan differently. That might give a neat effect. Of course, if it's the lead vocal, you probably won't want one in the middle, and one to the left or right. Also, if on seperate...
I'm analog- Mackie 24x4. Actually, I've heard the board is for live sound, not the studio. Im beginning to see why now. I thought it was the least expensive way to be able to mix 24 tracks. I mean, I think the Mackie at least sounds pretty good.
No, I've never had a seperate eq. I've recently...
