    Roland TD4 stereo outs??

Yah you just run your two outputs to two inputs. Figured they were panned 'in the box' though.

Amazing! This is actually really exciting!

    Drum Heads

Remo pinstripes get a lot of love around here. I'm liking my Evans G2s - I've found it comparatively easy to tune them up reasonably well.

    Tuning Bongos

Hey all. I think I solved things, seems like I had them that bit too tight in the first instance. Tuned them wayyy low and gradually brought them up. the result is the low drum has a nice 'thwonk' sound too it while the smaller one has a good bit more snap (though it might be a tiny bit too...

V-Drums in apartment. Need help to eliminate thumping.

I doubt it's the rack toms. The only part of the TD kits that seems a little on the loud side is the kick drum, though unless you're playing way late at night, this is a pretty shitty move on the part of your neighbours.

Is that the new studio series?

    Tuning Bongos

Interesting. I should have mentioned that these are only a couple of months old and have been played for about an hour or two in total! So would be surprised if this was the case, though it's possible.

I need help getting a good kick drum sound

I love the dynamic inertia in my mixes.

    Some general tracking/mixing questions...

Hey all. Set up my kit with 8 mics for the first time yesterday. I wanted to close mic the toms and figured I'd try the underside of the snare too, just for funsies. Results were pretty mixed. I like the kick and I think the toms could sound good, but the snare really needs to be tuned down a...

    Tuning Bongos

Any pearls of wisdom the brothers would like to impart? Have a hard time finding the sweet spot between tight and loose. Too tight and it's very dull, too loose and there's no pop...I assume this is just the same as tuning a standard kit?

    Any Favorite Acoustics?

I'm just going to row in here with my 2 cents. The guy in my local guitar shop is a die-hard Taylor fan...he'll push really bright sounding guitars that do very little for me. When it came to buying my first acoustic, I was ready to go high-end after playing electric for five years. The guy had...

I need help getting a good kick drum sound

Kick drums are like Telecasters - the harder you play, the better they sound.

    tuning VST drums? (Steven Slate)

Wtf am I, a mirage? If you ask a question, there's always a chance you wont get the answer you're looking for. Doesn't make it any less valid.

    tuning VST drums? (Steven Slate)

I'm not a huge metal fan, though I, like most people here, enjoy mixing as a craft. Seems like you've answered your own question - it comes down to how a drum sounds in the mix. If you like how it sounds, then go for it. I think that might be taking it a bit too far.

Looking for help with pedalboard issue

You're going to get a wide variety of questions when it comes to this question, but I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. First off, I'm a Boss fan myself. I've replaced a couple of their pedals with some slightly more high-end stuff but always find myself coming back to them. Also love the...

    tuning VST drums? (Steven Slate)

Fair enough. I can only imagine how de-tuning a non-baritone guitar by 3 full tones would sound as I have never felt the need to do it. I have a bass. Although from your MySpace samples, you should have no worries mixing a kick to stand out amongst those guitar tones, a bit of EQ to bring out...

    tuning VST drums? (Steven Slate)

What, in terms of timbre? I'm not sure how this could be done from purely a 'frequency' standpoint. It sounds like you're talking about EQ, or the space occupied by a sound in the overall sonic spectrum. Though I imagine that an open E string tuned way down to B will start to sound muddy a long...

    Hey, Mutt!

Could the same not be said for any LP Studio? Thanks for posting this, it'll be going straight to the top of my wish list. Think the satin white finish looks pretty interesting.

What's your kit like? Electric or acoustic what are you working with.

I'm waiting for my new mics to get here. I'll take a picture of my budget set-up then!
