So wire the braid to the switch and core to the pot? Interesting...

    Humbucker Installation?

Actually, it's a strat Tex Special from a Nashville Deluxe with red and yellow wires (http://support.fender.com/diagrams/telecaster/0135300_02B/SD0135300_02BPg2.pdf). I used the wiring in this diagram with red going to Earth and yellow going to the switch. Reckon I should swap?

    Humbucker Installation?

Hey mate, yep, I did, but my problem (and it's something I guess i just have a mental block about) is that the DiMarzio page explains alot about four-conductor wiring. For instance: "if you install the DiMarzio pickup in a two-pickup instrument and find the pickups to be out of phase (weak and...

    Humbucker Installation?

Cheers for that Ocnor, that's great! I know I must be driving you crazy here, but again, I'm faced with one braid entering the pickup - I'm assuming that this splits into two inside? Or which wires exactly are to be switched? Sorry, i know I'm melting your head, just wanna get this right for...

    Blackstar HT Boost

Hey man! The HT 5 is actually a stomp box but I've been hearing stellar things about the Club 40 and Soloist 60. They do great gear! Though now that I think of it, I was a little disappointed with the HT 5 amp.

    Humbucker Installation?

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. Sorry to be bringing this up again. As I understand it, phase can be electronically or magnetically reversed. I'm not really sure which is preferable or whether the effects differ sonically. But I was hoping that inside the humbucker, there might be a wire...

    Humbucker Installation?

Interesting. I may not even have to re-solder. I guess swapping the humbucker would be easier than the single coil. It call end up going a bit Peter Green-y

    Humbucker Installation?

Well the new humbucker certainly is two conductor. I believe the old bucker that i removed was four conductor. As for the Texas Special, I sort of assumed that it was two conductor as it only had two wires connected to it. Is reversing the polarity as simple as changing the switching of contacts...

    Humbucker Installation?

Success! Ah the sweet smell of success and melted solder! Swapped the LP set and while I havn't strung it up fully yet, I did a quick test with one string and to my great surprise, the pickups are working perfectly! The hardest part of this whole process was removing the old braid from the back...

    Humbucker Installation?

But if it's two-conductor, why is the wire soldered to just one lug??? And earthed of course.

    Humbucker Installation?

I may have a poor understanding of things but I'm almost sure there's only one wire coming out of each pup - a braided wire with only one core as far as I know...in fact my stock buckers seem to be the same?

    Treating oxidized/pitted hardware?

Hey again guys. Just wondered if I should be overly-concerned about pitted gold hardware on my LP. I understand that metal corrodes but looking at the stop-taiol and tune-o-matic, I'm worried in time, excessive rusting could make bridge adjustments difficult. I assume this is just par for the...

    Humbucker Installation?

Hey all. A 'Stormy Monday' Humbucker set just arrived from Bare Knuckle Pickups. I was gonna drop my LP Studio into a tech to have them installed but after a bit of poking around, I stumbled upon a revelation of sorts! It looks like the braid just needs to be earthed to a volume pot and then...

    Budget Les Pauls

Back on topic - in my experience, QC is a big factor with the Epis. Action, fit and finish should all be thoroughly assessed before you make a purchase. I've noticed a high fret at the neck/body join of more than one Epi. For these reasons I'd be inclined towards a Tokai replica, but that's just me.

Celebrating a miestone _MP3_Bules Jr Flexibility

Oh right, I figured this was a straight-up tone test - blues junior, guitar, sm57, no processing. But yeah, I can hear some compression on those cleans. Sounds great though, go with it.

    combo amps

I have this http://www.thomann.de/index.html?partner_id=97926&page=gb/laney_rb3_richter_bass.htm. I'm using it for pretty much the same purpose as the one you described previously. I think you can get a workable guitar sound out of almost any guitar amp, but in the case of a bass, you need...
