...and yes, I wish everyone WOULD save until they can afford LSR 308s or Adam 7s or even M-Audio M3-8s. There's a lot to be said for having a good set of monitors. It's even nicer to have near-field and mid-field (as I now do). No buts. They really need to. Now, WILL they?

Yes, I agree. There is really no point in taking a stock 74 Pinto to the Pro/Strip circuit. It's really not even a nice or a fun car to drive, and there's always the possibility it could blow up if you get rear-ended. With your Sentra analogy, you are assuming they want to be in that bracket...

Yeah, and the avantone mixcubes are in their budget!!! (well, the bottom of the line ones...the good ones are almost twice that.

Colaboration anyone? Song 12: I Know You Will

Okay, both guys gave me absolutely wonderful solos. Couldn't decide which one to work with, so I doubled the length of the solo. Soon as they get back with me about permissions and points, I'll post the new take up. :D Super stoked! Thank you both. Best birthday presents I've gotten in a long time.

...and still, we're talking about people who are looking at $200-350 per PAIR monitors...Yes, they'll need better. Not questioning that, but this is their entry. I haven't used my car stereo in a year and TBH, only check mixes on the surround in the living room when I feel like I'm done (just...

True enough, and if this were a ProfessionalAudioTechnician forum, I'd agree with not wanting guess work...but we're home recordists. We WANT the best, but we do what we can with what we can afford. Agree that monitors are the weak link and if at all possible, you should stretch your budget as...

    stereo guitar recording

This is home recording, no? Read that, "make do with what you have"...not, "quality doesn't matter." If I had two mikes on an acoustic, it would definitely be two different. I've used an LDC/SM57 to record neck/hole and vice versa. Both worked. I DID get a bit of phase issues from both...so...

Is the 500 series rack the end of the 19" rack gear?

I found THIS ARTICLE...a bit vague, but at least by '78

Is the 500 series rack the end of the 19" rack gear?

Considering 500 series power strips have been out since the 70s, I kind of doubt they're pushing 19" out any time soon. Even though the trademark on "Lunchbox" wasn't secured until 2010, it's been around for quite a while...

As was mentioned, everyone's ears are different. Everyone's style is different. Recommending a specific set of monitors is like recommending a specific car. Some (JBL LSR series, Adam, Yamaha) will fit a lot of the time, but nothing is set in stone. So, I'll throw out my normal here. Go to the...

    "All Blues"

Great playing. Agree with Mike that the guitar could fit a bit better into the mix instead of ... I hate to use the word against, but that's what it feels like. Maybe just hit up a 6-7.5k shelf and see how that helps. A little research into finding an appropriate short reverb to fit into the...

    Southbound

Sorry I didn't get to hear this earlier. Really! Wish I'd been hearing this...it's awesome. Vocal is amazing. Licks are amazing. Great tones. Smooth bass. Mix-wise, the drums are a bit too far out front...just a tad too loud, especially the snare, and a bit drier than the rest... Tone-wise...

The Deepest End - alternative rock

On cans. Sorry I didn't read through, I'm late to the party... Man, this is amazing. Guitar tones are fantastic. Voice is perfect for the song...and you've nailed the mix between the two. Love the subtle echo on the vocal (If it's supposed to ping pong, it's a bit too subtle. Only heard one...

    Deepmind 12 track

Rick and Greg Giufria were two of my faves in the 70's and 80s...course, Keith Emerson was no slouch either.

    Deepmind 12 track

Not to disagree, but this is definitely NOT moog-ish. Moog and Roland had completely different ways of doing synth, and this Behri sounds a lot more like Roland than Moog... (personal opinion) Nice mellow track. Very innovative! Love what you did with this. Sounded like there were a couple of...

Colaboration anyone? Song 12: I Know You Will

The song is practically all A minor. Should be fun noodling over the end of the song. Wish I could play. Chords are easy, notes fluster my poor fingers. Funny to me that I can play faster and better chops on my 5-string than I can on my guitars...maybe I should have made it a bass solo :laughings:
