Thanks again...
It is nice to know that I am not al;one in thinking about this sort of idea... I think there could be a lot of differant ways to handle a lot of these problems.
My Mark of the Unicorn USB interface for 4 in and 4 out is not getting it... I need to bet a faster port or something along with the ability to have maybe 8 in and 8 out would be nice. What else is out there for a larger number of patches that does not have a ton of time lag?
Thanks so much guy... Like I said the 38k serial bandwidth is very limiting and I was sure that I was not the first to be frustrated with it... As for expensive the 100 base NIC cards are going for under $100 dollars and a cheep hub and wires that can be up to a 100 meters and not 20 feet...

I know that the MIDI interface is the traditional interface for musical instruments but as a netwoork type of person, I see this protocol as old, S-L-O-W and expensive! Has anybody seeing any sequencers/synthesizers/keyboards using an Ethernet interface maybe even a box with TCP/IP for...
This is interesting…
I just got done making some practice CDs for the kids in a play that I am working with and cut 50 CDs and every one of them seem to be working fine on every CD player that these kids have and I could imagine that they are as different a group as any.
All I did was get all of...
Yes, Thanks VERY much...
It just so happened that my local Library had one of those books you mentioned (Nice change) so I will check it out. I have put the score of someone else’s play into a sequencer and was wanting to add some percussion (Or maybe even some drum kit type of thing) and was...
Thanks
This still sounds like something that could be very helpful in a smaller world where the space and talent pool is not what it is (and needs to be) at the Broadway level show. I would think that even something on a smaller scale than this custom progam thing that you are talking about...
I think this could be very useful too
I have been putting percusion into my notation software... and it seems to be very good at creatting a full song - My problem is I want more understanding of percusion (Not something I had tought about much in the brass section :)
Live synth performaces for Musical Theater
Most of my desire for live synthesizer group performance has to do with amateur / school musical theater... The theater that we would be doing these shows in does have a sound system and (I think it is 12 in 4 out mixer board) a 4 channel sound system...
What is known about… RMCP (Remote Music Control Protocol) where Midi information can be sent over an Ethernet Network… I would think this might be the way to go…
I mean 100 Base T cards and hubs are so cheap and the throughput is about 65 times faster than USB and a 5 times bigger packet. I...
Midi hook-ups to Sound Modules / Samplers
I am thinking that I am not making my comments / questions clear here and I am sorry… I guess I have some ideas about what sort of midi sounds I would have access to but. I have been very dissatisfied with the sounds from my controller (Even though the...
Ideas for Creation of a "“Virtual Orchestra"
Thanks…
I agree that the mic angle is an advantage, I was meaning is there “groups” that perform with several keyboards and maybe a drum machine and a wind controllers that perform as an “orchestra” when you start “splitting” keyboards and doing...
They seem to be able to be hooked together...
I was able to install all 4 of them in the computer now... But had to take out the Yamaha card that I was using for its midi port.
Yes, they had the breakout boxes... They didn't have the software, Manuals, or this little 3" jumper needed for...
Well I got all 4 of them in the computer now...

Have there been many people that have done live shows or accompanied live theater groups with different electronic instruments? This might be an option for smaller theater “orchestras” too. I guess I would love to discuss some of the different ideas and challenges that people have had with live...
In Concert... (What I hoped it did)
I thought that "In Concert" was designed for a person at a live performance to be able to play one or two tracks of an existing midi file using the input for placement in the song, tempo, and dynamics and then the computer would follow and play the other midi...
Did New Thread instead of reply Sorry...
Thanks VirtualSamana...
I am sort of wondering about the idea of putting more than one card in the computer… On one of their “advertisement” pages that mentioned I should be able to put “up to 4” of these cards in one machine but the manual doesn’t do...
