I dont really have a stable price for my recording sessions :\

And then you also may want consider if your charging for mixing separately or everything together. Just as an example: Tracking, $15/hr or $150/song, then $15/hr mixing.

question involving file type and quality loss

If you anyone has some time, would it be to much to ask if you any of you would break down the process of mastering from when you get a .wav file recorded at 24bit/44.1khz? Or a link of a good source of the process? Are different converters one of the main variables in getting a more quality...

Can a carpeted room be overcome?

Something like this? It's a slightly raised hardwood platform. Has a rug on it as well, and has insulation in it, to cut down on the transfer of any vibrations. Room view.

question involving file type and quality loss

I have a good friend who recently recorded a song at home, got good results and a solid mix and sent it off to a person he found for it to be mastered and from what he said for it to be formatted to work with Itunes? It was a "website" mastering company, they never directly met with the person...

$400 budget: 7 pc drum kit mics....kit or separate?

And it's important to note, that those single mic setups were done in almost absolute perfect acoustic environments for the sound they were after. In those cases you can just use one good mic to capture the sound of the kit and room, in most normal cases your going to have to close mic your...

    Monitors worthless without room treatment?

Having a properly treated room would help A LOT! It allows you to more accurately hear what is going on. Your jaw will drop at the difference in sound. Headphones imo are good for isolating specific problems, but I would never mix alone with them. You CAN make your own treatment, a monkey...

    Frustration

It may get you a few more listens or "fans/likes" but it won't correlate over to getting gigs. That's the golden rule of online promotion: Just because someone likes your page or listens to a song does NOT mean they are fan, especially on the local circuit.

Yea, I've heard great things about the 2002 line. I'll keep the AAX's and those in mind if I see them, I'll just have to go try them out if I find some. :p

    cymbals AHHH!!!

Well I'm only a zildjian man because that's all I've really had the experience of trying out lol. I'm a guitarist who just picked up playing drums about 2 years ago. The Amir hats are what I'm quite partial to, I just love the "sizzle" you can get from them and have been looking for a deal on...

    cymbals AHHH!!!

I just got back from looking at them and am passing on them. There was pretty decent key holing and a start of a crack on the ride and the hats did have some knicks and cuts on the edges. The crashes were in good condition, offered $220 for the crashes, but he passed wanting to sell them all...

my acoustic panel plans... (diagram included, comments appreciated)

That's a great suggestion there, just add finishing wood to them and since they'll be portable you won't have to worry about the weight and hanging them. And yep, it's generally recommended to have an air gap behind the insulation. For my broadbands I've just used 2x4s to make a frame and then...

    cymbals AHHH!!!

anyone want to slap me into getting these. I've been looking for cymbals on craigslist for months, and now that I find some I'm dragging my feet:facepalm: Just spent enough on upgrading to PT10 and a new mic, and of course that's why I'm just freaking out! Just don't know when the next time...
