    MSH-4 Tube mic test

Where was the mic located on this new clip? And what is the problem putting the mic direct across from the soundhole?

    MSH-4 Tube mic test

Hi, Timothy. I see your steel string sample is no longer hooked up. I'm new to recording classic guitar and was just wondering if I'd be better recording (mono) with the mic more toward the bridge or more toward where the neck and body meet?

    Multi-pattern microtrack compatibility

Can't think of any multipattern battery-powered mics, if that's what you mean. When I need portability with a mic that needs phantom I use the Denecke PS-1a (~$125 but I've seen phantom units for $50). Before getting one of the cheapies best to ask about it here first.

    mic choice for deepish rasp

Just to pass this along. When I read the subject of your post, even before I read what mic you were considering, I thought to myself "you do not want the Rode NT1a". A buddy of mine who has a deep voice tried the NT1a for voice-over and found that the mic made his voice sound raspy, which...

    Headphones

The Beyerdynamic 770s are often mentioned when this subject comes up. They are closed back so you don't bother anyone else. Beyer also has the 880s and 990s that are not closed. If you happen to be trying to mix in an area that's kind of noisy, like with cars going by or TV on, the 770M model...

    high sensitivity mic!?

No, it's just an adapter to connect an XLR phantom powering unit (such as Denecke PS-1) to a miniature lavalier mic.

I had been thinking about trying this mic for a different flavor. How does it like to be used?

    Impedance ?

Is this 10X impedance rule per channel? For example, a mic with 200ohm output impedance would be okay going into a pre with 2000 ohms input impedance, but could I use two of the 200ohm mics into that same pre?

Your go-to vocal mic for breathy male vocals

Someone on another thread just said the 319 was one of the worst mic's. Someone offered him $10 and $20 for it.

New Rode NT55 specs are up

http://www.rodemic.com/?pagename=Products&product=NT55 Mic might even be out ... or maybe next month. The info says it uses the same transformer as the NT5. I wonder if that means the same capsules, too? Wonder if it sounds just like an NT5? Someone here should be the first to get it and...

    MSHs for plug-in power

I see these mic's are now available. I would be interested in using the plug-in power adapter. Mshilarious, I want to use a matched pair for spaced omni, going into a minidisc. Could you explain how to connect two mobile mic's to one minidisc, using the plug-in power connectors? Is it...
