Ok I'm still new to recording. I'm using Guitar Tracks and have an audiophile 2496 sound card. I'm also using a cheap Behringer mixer. I have either guitar or mic plugged into the mixer and from there to the sound card. I'm using the rca outs from the mixer to the sound card. Is this right since...

Thanks for all the replys. Building my own system sounds intriging, I've never done anything like this before. If I were to go this route what os would be best? I'll be honest, I've never used anything other than a windows os so anything else would be definately intimidating.

Hello, I'm really new to recording and just getting started. I'm using Cakewalk GT-Pro on my computer and I have a small Beringer(sp) mixer. Right now I'm using the Tape I/O's to connect to my souncard. I was wondering if this is good or should I be using the 1/4" main outs? It seems to work...

With GT2 I need to have the DDD disk in my cd-rom drive. I know this maybe simple and stupid, but do have the disk in your drive to select a loop? I don't have GT Pro so I'm not sure what to tell you.

DB Poweramp is another freeware program that converts to mp3. I use it all the time.

I have the Uno that you linked to in the first post. It is very easy to install and it works very well with the J-Station.
