    wimpy drummer!

I would get the guy really stoned and then subject him to something monstrously heavy like Slayer or Machine Head... He'll be desperate to hit things harder after that... Failing that - just tell him... What sort of music is it...? Dave.

    Roland V drums and dynamics

Yes... The V-Drums are very cool indeed, good dynamics, good feel. Yamaha have just released the DTXtreme, which consists of pads with real drum heads, so check them out as well..... I have the Yamaha DTX (rubber pads), and these are incredible too - go Edrum - it's worth it big style...!

    Practice Pads

How much money are you talking...? If you've got around $1000, why don't you go for the Yamaha DTXpress. They're good to practice on and you get grat sounds to boot...!

    Are Tama drums any good?

Yeah - if it's a good price... Tama are very good, if it's in your price range and they've been looked after - go for it... Anything that's good enough for Mike Portnoy and all that...

    Yamaha DTXtreme...!

Yamaha Rules...! I've not played the DTXpress, but I believe it's a "light" version of the DTX. These kits are indeed excellent...! And very good prices too...! Dave.

    Yamaha DTXtreme...!

Oh yeah baby...! The new Ekit from Yamaha, looks really nice. I already have the DTX, but I'm considering getting the bass and snare drums to add to it...! http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM01/Content/Yamaha/PR/DTXTREME.html Ho-hum... Dave.

Mapex mars pro vs Tama Rockstar vs Pearl Export

Oh yeah baby...! He he...! When I was in a band (oh so long ago) it was hard rock / thrash - that big Pearl Export sound worked really well, and they really could (and did) take a beating...! But now I record at home, just me working on my own stuff - it's DTX all the way, such great...

Mapex mars pro vs Tama Rockstar vs Pearl Export

It all depends on money.... I would work out your budget and go for the best you can afford. I had a Pearl Export for ages (actually it's still going strong - but I've given it to my Sister-In-Law). It was the best I could afford at the time and I must say it didn't let me down. A big sound...

    10 Minute Drum Solo

Drum Solos.... Mike Portnoy's solo on Once In A Livetime is cool, and Ian Paice has put some cool stuff down too... Dave.

    10 Minute Drum Solo

Hmmm... Moby Dick...? The only studio track from Led Zep with a drum solo would be "Moby Dick" from "Led Zep 2", but I'm not sure it lasts for 10 minutes. If you're thinking about live stuff - again, "Moby Dick" on "The Song Remains The Same", now that probably goes on longer than 10 mins...

    Worst Drummers...

More on Lars... I wouldn't want to be Neil Peart's wife either - er she's dead.... This whole thread is a bit on the subjective side so it's tricky to get peoples opinions in line. I was thinking about Lars while walking the dog this morning, it's not that he's really bad, it's that he's...

    Worst Drummers...

Hmmm... poor drummers... I would agree with the Lars comment - although it is fun to hear him attempt to keep time. I would say that (maybe not the worst but) definately the luckiest drummer on the planet has to be Ringo. He really isn't that good and he lands a gig like the beatles - jammy...

    Looking to buy E-Drum Set

Go DTXpress baby...! I have the Yamaha DTX and it is a kick-arse ekit...! Now I believe that the DTXpress is a "light" version of the DTX. I think you can pick one up for around $1000, so definately check it out. The DTX Brain is incredible, and Yamaha tend to use samples for their sounds...

    Favourite Drummers

My first post.... Guys, my first post and I have to add to this thread... Mike Portnoy.... He is the man at the moment (you don't believe me - check out "Scenes From A Memory", Dream Theater's latest effort - there's some excellent production on there too...!). Other honorary mentions would...
