    Tube amps >$350

I own a V32 american made version , before they sent them to vietnam or god knows where...it is a kick ass little amp. If you look on ebay, they have some V32 heads for around $400, or you could go with the V33 foreign version from between $299 and $360. They come in head and combos with 1 or 2...

mesa boogie mark iic vs mark iv

Yea they all sound different. The circuit designs changed as they went, first with the IIa, IIb, IIc, IIc+, then the III stripe series, and IV. Good way to think of it is they became gainier (is that even a word) as they went, and the IIc+ really achieving fluid distortion tones. This is the amp...

    pick ups

Hot rails are great. We popped one in my dads strat...also found a single coil out of a jimi hendrix voodoo strat (on e-bay) and put that in the middle position. WOW!!! Sounds great.

    Does anyone play mediums?

I say give the GHS BOOMERS LOW .11-.53 a try. I used to be in a metal band (very fast picking) and we were tuned to C. They lasted a long time and held good tension on my old explorer and V. Then i ended up using elixer nano web .10's for my other band. We are a half step down, and they feel...

mesa boogie mark iic vs mark iv

Yea...the cost of those amps are unbelievable(kinda wish they would re-issue the markIIc+) but they sound great. My opinion is: find a mark III, out of them all...they seem to get the closest to my ears. And you can find them for a lot cheaper too. Usually around $800.

mesa boogie mark iic vs mark iv

The question is a little vague, but if you are looking for that smooth metallica type crunch you will want the mark IIc+ (kinda hard to find and expensive). The mark IIc is an earlier version, and if not mistaken can still have the + mod done by mesa boogie techs. The mark III still closer to...

    Tube Questions

Or try eurotubes.com. I have ordered several sets of tubes from these guys, they sell JJ tubes. I sometimes play in a metal band, and these tubes sounded great in my boogie amps. If your low end sounds flubby you will want to replace the power tubes as well. That poor bass response is a sign...

Recommend a fairly inexpensive solid state amp for abrasive tones

If you are looking for a solid state head with some nuts...I would recommend the peavey supreme 160, ampeg 140 stereo chorus, good ol' fender M-80 chorus, or an old randall RG-120. I have used all of these amps in the early to mid 90's and they all can get nasty! Then I found god...TUBE...

    mixer to soundcard question?

Hello all...great site! Yes, i may have a dumb question? I am wanting to record drums for my bands demo (7 or 8 tracks at once), and have aquired equipment for a computer studio setup. I have the following: power mac g5 running osX, logic express 8, m-audio delta 1010lt and 192 cards, an 8...
