    lyrics review please!

Here's a new one I'm working on. It will have a fairly upbeat tempo, and the typical acoustic borderline-country vibe that a lot of my stuff has (??? don't know exactly how you all would classify my music??....uuuugh, I don't want to be country! But "ah guess ah cain't hep it" :laughings:)...

    Never Felt So...

It's difficult for me to have an opinion without hearing the words set to music. (I'm sure I'm not the first to say that...so I apologize if I'm bringing up a subject that's been rehashed a million times on this board :o) but anyway...here are my thoughts on just the words: You were an aching...

    A couple bluegrass songs

I listened to (and enjoyed) both tracks....Waitin' On Ashley was my favorite of the two. Thanks for posting! I am hoping to learn how to import other instrumentation into some of my songs too....I'd be happy if I could make something sound half this good!

Murder at the Drive-In - Greg_L homicidal original idiocy

yay...another roller coaster ride for my ears! Lyrics are dark, but fun...I like the irony of the violent story being expressed in this upbeat happy sounding tune. Guitars, bass, drums, vocals (lead and backing) all sound perfectly balanced. The ending is really good....bass sounds...

a product of the untalented, posted by the unprincipled, to the utterly bewildered

I think it's safe to keep me assigned to the "utterly bewildered" category....uh....nice hammer though!

    Crit on mix

I'm not qualified to comment on how to fix the mix...but the timing is a little wonky. Also, there is a really weird clicking that is not doing anything to enhance this song...it's at :52 and again at :56....sounds like coconuts being knocked together or something.

    rip this apart

is that tapping the bass drum?! Sounds like someone beating on an upturned empty 5-gallon plastic paint bucket. The vocals sound like he's singing through a bunch of pillows. The guitar is lost behind the thumping paint container and the angry young man singing through the pillow. Maybe my...

    New Here

I listened to Talkin About Love. Timing could be a little tighter (especially in the beginning). Something seems a little rumbly and muddy in the lower sounds. I like the lead guitar work, but the tone is a little off (maybe too much distortion? guitar also sounds slightly out of tune to me)...

    modern-old timey folk

I listened to this the other day and really think you have something pretty here, so I wanted to give it a thoughtful response. I love the old timey feeling...harmonies are really sweet. Wish I could play banjo & fiddle too...I'm jealous. Your voice is very interesting....I would like a...

New Tune - Rough Mix - Feedback Requested Please

nice work! Vocals sound great. This is gonna sound incredibly picky...the only thing I thought might help build more of a rush into that part when it goes into double time (the lines "win this war tonight")...is just a few more beats or hold the note a fraction longer before it speeds up...

Awww...my very 1st recording (Too ADD to be OCD)

thanks Tobe. This one was inspired by a friend of mine (who happens to be one of the guys who've helped me by recording many of the songs I've posted on this site). He has obsessive compulsive disorder and he was telling me about some of the routines he does and it just sounded like a big...

Awww...my very 1st recording (Too ADD to be OCD)

This is just me being silly. I don't have any headphones yet, so I couldn't do the tracks separately. I just used one mic and my guitar plugged into the bose tonematch thing...but it's a start at least. There are so many effects buttons to play with in the reaper program and I have no idea...

Is this as retched as I think it is?!!

thanks Chili...I keep waiting for the masses to fess up that they think this one stinks!! :laughings: When I listen to it, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard most of the time....but then there's something about this one that I like in a strange sort of way (maybe it's b/c I don't usually have...

    Second Mix

nice harmonies...wish the 2nd vocal was a little more prominent. I've only listened to the latest remix, but guitar seems a little twangy to me. Would be nice if the overall sound was "bigger" (does than have to do with panning??? I'm still new at trying to describe what I'm hearing) b/c the...

    My first mix ;d

I don't think it would be a bad song at all...but the mix is really irritating. Unfortunately I'm not very skilled at describing the "why" of something not sounding right to me, but here's what I didn't like: the guitar(s) sound like one long fuzz train most of the time, especially in the end...

    All you band players:

we play half originals and half covers. Most of the time the audience is surprised to hear a mother & daughter act cover radiohead, fuel, sade/deftones, sia, sublime, gnarls barkley, fiona apple, regina spektor, kings of leon, ben folds, beatles, fleetwood mac, bjork, fink.

Do you play in a band?

My "band" consists of my 24 yr old daughter and me. I play guitar, we both sing. Strictly a hobby for us both.

    Uriah Heep Cover

I don't know Uriah Heap either...but that won't stop me from offering my .02 1. bass is plenty loud 2. no, not too much reverb 3. acoustic guitars...they aren't very prominent, that's for sure. Might be kinda weird to have more acoustic guitar though with all that drumming stuff, electric...

What a muddy mess!! Help Please

kind of channeling David Byrne in the vocals a bit....would be nice to have the vocal blend in a little better, maybe some more effects on the vocal. Not sure if the song ends abruptly in the middle of the guitar solo or my computer decided to stop playing it??

surreal groove titled 'Vincent' -- any thoughts appreciated

I would just echo the comments about the bass needing a little more work...just sounds like low tones...would be nice to hear it more clearly. Interesting sound in the beginning...like a slightly out of tune piano from somewhere far away. It like the way the vocals are sitting in the mix. The...
