    Korg D1600 Digital Multitrack Recorder

Re: Pro Tools are OK:) Good point. I forgot about the issue of protools being native. I haven't noticed any timing issues, for what it is worth ...2cents;)

    Digi 001

I have a demo song that came with my Digi that has 3 loops from virus in it. They sound good. Guitar center told me that it can produce loops that sync up with the timing in the digi software which is a cool thing.

    Portable HD or Computer-Based??

Digi-001 is a package for Mac or PC. It is a combination of Protools LE, great little brother version of the TDM Protools software, and the 001 A/D converter/breakout box and pci card. It goes for just under 800.00.

    Who is using Digi001

Frank, BTW, I tried Protools free also and it sucked. LE is no comparison. Having compatible hardware makes all the difference.

In regards to levels...has anyone used Maxim in Protools?

    Korg D1600 Digital Multitrack Recorder

Maybe it was the software. Protools LE is nothing less than a copy of the TDM software used professional around the world in the BEST studios. The differences are this. The A/D converter...001 is not quite as good as the 8824. Also, there are features which have been skipped, like beat...

    Korg D1600 Digital Multitrack Recorder

I built my computer for 800.00 and bought my Digi for 767.00. I did use an old monitor, mouse, and keyboard but the added capabilities are astounding. I almost bought the Korg. This was my first computer build too. It is 10x easier than most people think. I really had no problems in the build...

    Digi 001

I don't believe it goes up to 96htz. Digidesign has a software called Virus that can make integrated loops. Costs too much for me. I am thinking of using Acid and syncing my performance to it...backwards.

    Digi 001

I'm tracking right now in Digi-001. I find the audio to be very good. The pre's are ok. I like my Mackie 24-8 better. The editing is Incredible. I am doing things I didn't know was possible, before. If your interested, I tell you anything I have seen, heard, or learned. I am really enjoying it...

For the price of a D1600 you can... Buy or build a P3 800Meg computer. Buy Digi-001 soft/hard-ware. Portable HD or Computer-Based??

    1) You built your own computer, right? Where did you get the parts (online? store?), what parts did you use (i.e. motherboard, chipset, ram, etc. or was it all a pre-configured set), and are you happy with 'em? Yeah, I did and it was my first time. I was a little nervous but when I hooked...

    Portable HD or Computer-Based??

"What kind of digital inputs are they? They are 2 stereo ins, right?" It has 8 analog ins and outs and 2 SPIF Digital RCA type connections. "Pardon my ignorance-- mackie 24-8-- that's an analog board? So you track the digital input on the PT side? How much did the mackie run ya?" So far, I...

Live vocals sound OK, recorded vocals sound crap

Guys, I thought his question was one about sonics of the vocals and not how well his performance is. Any other suggestions in that vein?

I was told by several people at Sweetwater that Motu would be good if you did a lot of midi, but that Digi does better with analog sound and has better editing capabilities.

    Portable HD or Computer-Based??

Your suggestion interests me, despite your haughty tone -- can you tell me more about it? And what it cost you? Do you have faders? Mixer? CD Burner? Is it on a Mac or PC? If so, what kind? Are you using 24 bit? How many tracks can you record on at once? Playback tracks? Total Tracks? How much...

    Portable HD or Computer-Based??

oops...almost forgot 24bit 24 channel playback. You can't beat this setup even for 2000.00. Insight into editing....... I took and cut and pasted SEAMLESSLY a 6-track drum session to where my drummer is a human metrome. The quality of the editing with the combined capabilities of fades (a...

    Portable HD or Computer-Based??

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. PC recording is all about flexibility. There is no way you could edit like I have been doing for a week on a D1600 screen. In addition, you cant install and keep connected 2 hard drives in a D1600. Buy a Digi-001. Why? Better A/D conversion Editing capabilities...
