The solo unit will only record two analog tracks at a time; if you record all 4 inputs at one time, it'll mix it down (via the pan controls) to the two inputs. As well, it only has two mic preamps. Having the external controls would nice... it takes a really well designed software control...
Yes, I own and use a MC-50 Mark I. With the MC set to slave mode (it says MIDI on the display), press record. Select the track you want it to record to on the MC50, and then start playback on the master sequencer.
I use the MC50 slaved to Cakewalk. I record the tracks on the MC50, and send...
Yep, they fixed this problem in version 9.
To get around it, turn off update in the console view ([U], or the button third from the right). Position the faders how you want them. Rewind to the beginning of the song, then push [S] in the console view (or the button with the camera on it) to...
If only there were a straight forward way to do all this...
This may work, though:
midi keyboard out - sequencer in
sequencer out - bass station in
bass station thru - sampler in
if your sequencer doesn't have 'soft thru' on the outputs, the you'll need to buy a midi merge box, and run the...
okay, first off: the floppy is totally out of this equation; you plug a hard drive into the floppy cable (if it's even physically possible), you might not like the consequences...
You should be able to add another drive, you'll need another cable like the one hooking up the two devices (the...
www.digitalproaudio.com 569$ - www.zzsounds.com 599$ (they'll beat dpa's price if you quote it, this link may work http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/zzzz.music?o=94936229419294820,155&r=92677 )

The advantage would probably be if you going to send it out for mastering, or you wanted to use another program for some reason or another (that had a better dither maybe?).

You can record while in slave mode on a MC-50. The problem might be that the audio recorder is telling the sequencer to play and not record. You might be able to get around that by hitting record on the mc-50, and then starting the audio recorder.
Hope this works

Lambo (and anyone else interested)
Just got a brainwave (scary):
That sudden increase in performance may be due to the fact Windows stopped trying to cache the audio data as it was being played back, and therefore allowed cakewalk to do things its own (better) way. Just a thought...
William...
Short answer: It can do everything you've mentioned in your post, except for the 'make it sound like Studio quality stuff', that's up to you and the rest of your gear :)
Long answer: Sorry, I don't want to retype the manual : )
It's hard to give general answers to the question "What can...
sorry to but in here (well, not really : )
I'm running a P166, 64megs ram with a 5400rpm hard drive, I've gotten 32 (different) tracks plaing back at the same time, no choppyness ... just an 11 second latency :)
The latency starts to sky rocket at about 16 - 18 tracks, so you should be able to...
Cakewalk Pro Audio let's you create a midi track from an audio clip, but it can't be polyphonic (i.e. more than one note at a time). This technique is generally unreliable at best, you'd probably be better off finding somebody who can play well by ear . :)
As far as using two keyboards, set...
You may find that the aardvark has quieter preamps than the mixer; also, hy using the preamps in the mixer, your signal will have to go through the mixer's preamps, channel eq, channel gain and master gain before it even gets to the soundcard. Each one of those stages will add some noise to the...
No, only the TSR cables are capable of carrying a balanced signal on 1/4". Using any cable adds some line noise, balanced just reduces the amount of radio interference (which helps alot, especially on long runs). Either way, if the connections are kept short, it shouldn't be much of a problem...
almost have you beat: 1 meg, 8 mhz
Just enough power to realtime monitor the midi system, and control cakewalk remotely (among other things)...
Good ol' atari
If all you what to do is dump everything down to the hardware sequencer when the arranging is done, then all you have to do is plug the output from the computer into the input of the sequencer. Set the sequencer to slave mode (check your manual on how to do that), push record on the sequencer...
yep, you would need a midi merger box. Plug the synth and the other keyboard into the inputs, and plug the output into the sequencer.
