Help me find a mic for live use!

Hey! I know that this forum is mostly for recording, but I don't know of anyplace else on the web that has this much knowledge and credibility. Anyways, I sing a lot of backup harmonies and my current mic, a Sampson S12, just isn't cutting it for me. What I'd like is recommendations for a mic...

    Pedal Steel Emulation

It's basically an add on that allows you to have benders on several strings. Bigsby and a couple other companies have made different variations of them. Boomer Castleman plays one and can flip your mind with the stuff he pulls off. Here's a web site for the bender that bigsby makes...

1st original post for your reviews

Great playing! The recording ain't too bad either. I'd be interested to hear it again once you complete it.

    new song

I like the song and the recording sounds really good. You've got a great feel going on with it. The only thing I can think that might make it better would maybe be changing up some of the vocal harmonies. They are pretty consistant throughout the song, so adding some variations may help to add...

    Pedal Steel Emulation

Looks a lot like a palm bender to me.

    Pedal Steel Emulation

I play a B-Bender tele and use it to cop pedal steel parts here and there. It can get you close, but it's hard to match up because of the steel's tuning and lever system. There's some stuff they do that guitar players just can't! Some guys go all out with volume swells and such trying to nail...

    MIM vs MIA Strats

I own both MIM and american standard fender strats and teles. IMO, there is a noticeable difference between the two. The biggest differences for me is the neck and fret work on the american standards as well as the balanced tones. I've put MIA electronics in MIM instruments and while they sound...

i dont understand the concept of Fender

I completely agree that all Fenders are terrible guitars. As a service to the guitaring community I will accept, for a limited time only, all of these disgraceful Fenders so that others will not have to endure these loathesome guitars. It's a big sacrifice, but if it's for the greater good of...

    Extension Cab for Classic 30

Have you played your amp through the vintage 30 yet? IMO, that may be one of the worst speakers for the classic 30. It really accentuated the upper mid spike the amp has and was very shrill sounding .....at least to my ears. YMMV.

    Boss BR-600

I've had a BR-600 for about a year and a half. It's perfect for what I want to do.

    New Amp

That sounds really cool (amp and playing). If I ever get a chance to try one of those Mesa's out, my curiosity is definately peaked. Congrats on the new amp! :)

    Butterfly

Cool song and good job on the recording. I like it a lot. I don't really see anything wrong with that song at all. One thing I might try, would be to let the bass line walk some during the verse and lay down a little bit of groove. The guitars would be still be holding down the beat and it might...

Help Me Pick My 1st Recorder!

+1 I'd even say just get a BR-600. They're $349 new and give you a ton of sound for the money. Even someone as backwards and "not with it" as me can figure out how to get decent recordings on the thing.

    Critique?

The song is catchy. I like the added harmonies, but would maybe pull back a little of the effect used on the vocals. The rhythm is groovin, but I had trouble catching all of the little guitar and keyboard parts going on it the song. Maybe bring them up or seperate them out more....I dunno. I'm...

    First Chill Song Ever

I like really like the song as well as the over all feel it has. It's got a melody that sticks with you. The recording is pretty darn good. The only thing I 'might' do would be to bring up the vocals a little bit. Nice work!

    Finally ready for another listen!

First off, let me say thanks for taking the time to listen! :) The guitar licks are played with a b-bender which allows for some pedal steel like phrasings. I appreciate the comments about the tracks being split. Actually, I originally had them closer to center and was told that the mix was...

buy a fender telecaster or mod cheapo tele?

Personally, I love the americans series telecasters. They just seem to give me the sound and feel that I like. I've tried to swap the american series pickups and no load tone pot into other tele's I've had, but they just didn't give the same rich sound and balanced string response no matter how...
