Mmmm, I think I'll need at least two more inputs so I guess that puts the M-Audio Tampa outa the question. The ART Digital MPA looks nice, and seems to be going for about £300 plus. The ISA sounds good but is pretty expensive, by the sounds of what your saying it seems pretty reliable though...
Thanks for the help so far guys, been looking at most of those pre amps and they're really expensive here in the U.K. I might be better off getting a Digi 002 rack used on ebay, they seem to be going for about £300. What are the Pres on the 002 like? Would there be a noticable difference between...
Hey guys,
I'm using an Mbox 2 with Pro Tools LE and I really need more inputs than just two. Now the only way I can do this really, is to either buy a Digi 002 rack/mixer or an 003 etc, but they are really expensive even on eBay second hand. Well they are in the U.K. anyway.
So I think my...
Ah right I understand now. Well I've been watching some 002's on ebay but they still go for a lot of money don't think I can afford one. So I'll most like have to go for a Pre Amp, can anyone recommend one? With at least two inputs that go to S/PDIF? I'm having trouble finding any. Might have to...
Well I just mean in general, what do you guys think? In your own experiences.
I'm using an Mbox 2, through a fairly alright computer, Edirol monitors, an AKG Perception 220, Shure 57, and an AKG C1000S which is awful. I plan to upgrade my mics to an SM7b and a better Large condencsor but I'm...
Bit of a newbie question, but how important are preamps in getting a pro sound? I mean could you only tell the difference between say Mbox preamps and some more expensive ones if you had excellent monitors, pc, cables, mics etc. But what about with decent enough mics/monitors? Is it something to...
Yea I think I get you now, so the 002 should work no trouble right? But what about say the M-Audio Dmp-3, that doesn't have an S/PDIF output does it? so it won't work? Or perhaps I'd have to buy a converter? Are they're any preamps that do the conversion automatically.
Sorry for so many...
Would that work with Pro Tools LE though? Im a bit confused about what MessianDreams said, I'm still reasonably new to this. How exactly would these connect to the Mbox? the 000's also. Like if I bought a M-Audio Dmp-3 or an 002 where would I go from there?
Ah man, the cost of the Digi 003 is ridiculous, even the older ones are expensive as hell, especially here in the U.K. Is there really no other way to do this? Take it you cant have two Mbox's runing at the same time can you? Because my flatmate has one also. It's so frustrating being so limited...
Ah I thought that about the DI and mic inputs, recording the vocals separate is not an option for me, I much prefer doing both at the same time for a better performance. What is a Sib? and whats the a DIGI 00(1,2,3)? I'm not familiar with these products.
Thanks
Alright guys,
I need some help with my Pro Tools set up. The thing is I have an Mbox 2 with Pro Tools LE. I have begun setting up my own studio as I would like to record an album within the next year.
Problem is as you know the Mbox 2 only has two inputs, and for my main recordings I want to...
Cheers guys some awesome advice, I'll be sure to check some of it out. I've found that a good way to teach yourself is just to record an acoustic being strummed. Then play about with an eq, a good visual one like the one in pro tools and pay attention to what frequences your are changing and...
Yea guess it is about personal preference, but 'technically' standing up should give you more projection. As a sing song writer I tend to sit down to record.
I intend to start getting vocal lessons this year, mainly to see if it will improve my technique, just for myself and my songs. Plus I know the singing teacher from when I was younger, but I dunno how good she is. I'll let you know, when it comes to it. Probably expensive though, but hopefully...
I'm new to this myself, but a good starting point for me was the book "Home recording for Dummies" I would check it out. It's a good place to get to grisps with everything, it's tauhgt me a lot. Hope this helps :)
Alright guys, I'm pretty new to recording. I'm only 19 and have been studying recording/mixing/mastering religiously now for about 3 months, I'm finding it so fascinating, and I have learnt so much in such a little time period. I feel that I can see music from a whole other perceptive!!
The...
