Very informative information :), and yeah thanks I am very aware that mics are the way forward  But this thread was created out of general curiousity about D.I's sound quality. I've never taken into consideration how Line outs do not pick up the characteristics of the amp due to room...
Ah I see, so If I plug the cable from the amp to the line slot it should work better. Some really informative information about amps, and D.I there, thanks :)
Seems like two mics would be ideal for me then, as I want the guitar to stand out quite well in the mix. The guitar to my own ears sounds so perfect as it is, it's just trying to get that same sound in my head down on record ya know? Every time I record my guitar, it never sounds the same as...
Why does recording through D.I sound so bad?
Heres the thing, I have this nice Seagul acoustic and I was experimenting to see how good I could make it sound without mics. When so I plugged it into my Mbox 2, and recorded. And it just sounds so bright and seems to lose a lot its detail and...
Yea cheers Gecko that's a very interesting thread, I do like the sound of those NT5's maybe slightly on the bright side, but I'm not too sure. Will consider what he has done there, it is a very clear/detailed recording. Nah that's not per mic but all together and in British pounds.
To be...
Alright peeps,
Here's the situation, I know this has been discussed quite often. But I'm having trouble trying to decide on what mics to get for recording my acoustic guitar. I've decided on a SM7b for my vocals, as this will also help eliminate the bleed from the acoustic plus in general it...
Hmm yeah I'll to look into some of those, thanks for the advice :). Nah I usually record vocals and guitar at the same time, and position the 220 towards the right of the sound hole a facing slightly off angle towards the neck.
At the moment I currently have an Mbox 2, and I soon am thinking of upgrading to a Digi 002 rack. Would these preamps be sufficient enough for the SM7?
Hmmm, that's a very interesting point, that would make sense that the small condensers pick up more detail. Do you think I would be better off with some SDC microphones? or going with something like the AT4033, 3035 etc? Or maybe even a 3035 because they are quite cheap and then buy a SDC also...
hold on a sec does the 002 rack have an inbuilt soundcard like the mbox? Because I'm about to buy soon, but I don't want to have to buy a soundcard as well. Will it work fine as a unit by itself along with pro tools 8?
So what do people think of this microphone? before I go ahead and buy it. I've heard good things about it so far, and it seems amazingly cheap for all of the famous records that it has been used on.
I want to use it mainly for vocals, whilst recording acoustic guitar at the same time for...
Alright guys,
I'm looking for an upgrade on my AKG Perception 220, I want it to be used mainly for acoustic guitar and perhaps a few other instruments. But I really want something that will pick up a lot of detail from my acoustic guitar, as it is expensive and I want it to be one of the main...
I think it might be easier or me just to get an 002, would you say there is a big difference between the preamps on the Mbox 2 compared to the ones on the 002?
