well I AM using it on the mix buss, so it's pretty hot there. with these settings, and a mix that clips at around 5-6 db, i'm always trying to get just little compression- 1, 1.5. 2db max on the biggest transiesnt.
i dont see how is this relevant, because this happens with all sorts of settings, in different occasions, just when im toggling back and forth between 2/4/10 ratio.
but just because you asked, on my current mix the threshold is set to the highest (indicates as +15 i think), attack 30 (which is...
maybe im not so familiar with the original hardware version, but it seems to me that the compressor ratio is going upside down. when i put it on 10, it does the lowest amount of compression, and when i dial in 4 it does more, and 2:1 does the biggest amount of compression.
is it like that in the...
im sure there's a quick and easy way to do this, but i couldnt figure it out myself nor find the answer, so here goes:
is there a way to stretch audio blocks (also snapping it to the grid in my case) while also time stretching it?
lets say ive recorded something at 120bpm, and now i changed...
Just a plain old classical guitar, been playing it for more than a few years now, always kept in the same place and in the same condition, with "normal" fresh strings on...
Hey guys,
I noticed something funny the other day playing my classic nylon guitar after "being away" from it.
there seems to be a strong resonance with the bass A note, and the frequencies to go along with it- mostly (after analyzing and EQing the recording, 110 hz, and 220 hz.)
everything else...
Part of the Mastering process is preparing the audio to sound as best as possible on different playback devices. personally I dont use anything BUT my studio monitors to enjoy music, unless im somewhere else in public or in the car.
Regarding little speakers i want to translate to, what would...
you should try what Massive Master said. draw a curve throughout the fadeout section. -should be fairly easy to do in any DAW.
also you would be able to jump between sections in that 2min fade and check to see that the volume is roughly the same- so you have a clue as to how "Steep" you should...
I think it's a big deal.
Yeah going out with statements like "loudness war is over" is a bit too much too soon- but dont let that fool you in thinking that what Katz or iTunes are aiming for is a lost, irrelevant cause.
the WAR is going on for decades now, and is still being fought hard. we are...
Hi guys, just a quick question- which app or method you use to convert your final .wav exports to mp3?
is there any difference exporting an MP3 from protools, cubase, adobe audition? and if so- what should i pay attention to, except the KBPS value of course?
i have Tannoy's 501a, and didnt have this problem or anything like it.
maybe the input jack is a bit loose? or the cables are too thin or not built well?
take'm back to the store, on either case i think they will be able to help determine the problem.
this would be a good starting place for you, if you haven't already seen it:

I'd give careful attention to their recommendations and warning, especially when it comes to overdoing mastering processes.
Thanks for the time and effort guys, i appreciate you testing this out with me, even though you didn't give me the answer i was "looking for".
Just one more thing that came up around here: is my workflow really that weird for you guys? i mean, most of the professional engineers i know and...
My mixes are heavy with CPU. so are my Mastering processes. so i always export a mix and open another session to master it. also its so much easier to faithfully A/B stuff this way.
no disrespect, but honestly every proffesional mixing engineer iv'e met works this way. not just in the analog...
Iv'e mis-threaded my audio sample for you to check, so here it is again:
