I agree that a good solid state pre is better than a cheap toob pre. I do think they have thier place though I probably will only own 2 channels of tube pre for the foreseeable future, but I sure wouldn't want to give them up.....

I use a Peavey/AMR VMP-2. Quite a nice pre, and can be had for $500-700 used. That's about the cheapest real tube pre in two channels. I second Scrubs on the brick. Can't beat it for a single channel. Just remembered that with the VMP-2 you get a 2 band real tube eq on each channel as well. G-

I have EMG's in my bass that I put in about '94. I wired in battery holders, and they are not a big deal to change. i also put two 9v's in series in there (per the instructions - 1-3) The batteries last a long time if you leave it unplugged - in fact, my bass sat for more than 3 years, and...

I'm glad you posted this. I listened to it, but didn't know who's it was. I'm not a big fan "Death Metal" myself, but I really like the verse guitar parts (atleast I think it's the verse - lol) The slower grinding guitars........

I listened to strange kind of paradise as well. It really sounds good. The only two MINOR things I hear, is the back Vox on the chorus is just a tad low for my taste, and the main vocal sounds a bit "dirty". I'd like to hear a little more crispness. Good work!

All the "not too much further"-ness adds up in the final track. Making 1 track sound pro is relatively easy. Making a completed mixdown with a bunch of "almost as good's" is a whole nother story..... Listen too what Chess is sayin'..... :D
