Nathan gave you some good advice...heed it. Use your task manager to see what's running and identify programs you don't need and uninstall them.
It's not all that difficult. After uninstalling the bloatware found on most comps, optimize your startup and services. Here's the quick process for...
Those links suggest nothing unique to laptops. I had many of those issues on a desktop that runs rings arojnd my laptop. Then I learned how to optimize my comps and bingo. No more probs.
Seriously, unless you are running a bunch of vsti plugs, practically any comp will suffice to record...
Absurd. I've been running Sonar 8.5 on my cheapo HP lappy for a couple of years now. Zero problems, period.
Keep the baseless crap out of the noob forum...its confusing enough for them as it is.
Well, for me, I much prefer the R16 in interface mode. The menu tree is a bit wonky for standalone recording, but I'm geared more towards DAW than standalones anyway. And no, once it's in interface mode, you cannot record on the R16....sorry.
My $285 HP lappy has been functioning flawlessly for 2+ years now. 3gigs ram, 2.1 ghz AMD Sempron (the Celeron clone) and a 5400 rpm drive. Should be a terrible rig, but, it runs great.

hahahah...what the fuck is wrong with you dude?:D Amos Moses? What a genius idea for a remake! Loved the mix...just the right blend of serious musicianship and Jerry's lighthearted wit. Im pretty sure he would've dug the shit outta this cover.:drunk:
Next up: East Bound and Down!
I've got about zero problems with this as long as it aint a pressure sales gimmick. Some peeps learn kinetically rather than visually and while this doesn't appear to be a hands on type seminar, proximity to the actual equipment can be beneficial as opposed to a youtube vid.
I've owned one for almost a year now and it's performed flawlessly. The pre's are ok. Not great but not a penalty box either. I use mine as an interface and control surface for Sonar 8. I haven't had a nit to pick with it yet.
