lol. Yeah, that would be hilarious if after that 2 minute outro, I just did a key change and ran with it for another two minutes. Interesting. I can't hear the pitch problem with those swells. It's quite possible though. I've found that while I am very sensitive to rhythmic irregularities...

    The Gathering Crowd

Well, this one is quite original. I'm not sure what to think honestly. I figured upon first listening there was intent behind the odd phrasing of some lines and the lack of rhyming, but I don't know that I understood it in as specific a way as you intended. Not sure it's necessary though for the...

Come Forth - spooky ass white boy shit

I think I prefer the new bass. I'm not 100% though either. It sounds less boomy with more mids, which actually seems to clean up the mix as a whole a little, but at the expense of some fullness. It's hard to isolate any one element for feedback because there's so much going on in this mix all...

Thanks for listening and taking the time to offer your thoughts VHS. I understand about the length. I've done better in recent years sticking to 2.5 - 4 minute songs, but every once in a while I do something like this. If I was going to cut anything, it would be the first 4 minutes! lol You're...

Tall Order with easlern and ibleedburgundy

Ha! While in a weird way I love that you find Imagine repulsive, for me, I think this is one of the exceptions I mentioned earlier. I'm not so crazy about the music or the song itself, but I really do like the lyrics. So straightforward and sincere. Kind of ballsy to have written and sung some...

I guess I came dangerously close to dreaded chorus effect territory. Phew! I'll have to watch out for that. Lol @ citation. You will receive written notification of your court date in the mail within the month. Hmmm. Interesting. I'm not hearing that myself? It might be something else...

    cold, cold ground

Thank man. You know, I never would have thought of a two chord song being unequal in that way? I think I just kind of assumed that isn't done? lol I did run it through a few times on the acoustic yesterday afternoon, as reading your comment made me wonder...it made sense to me on paper (on...

Tall Order with easlern and ibleedburgundy

For my part, no. One of my earliest musical memories was sitting on the floor of the living room while my parents played magical mystery tour. I am the Walrus seemed like the coolest thing I'd ever heard. Just the tone of John's voice over that music...it sounded like some kind of controlled...

lol Yeah, I was getting ready to grasp at straws on your behalf Nola, but I'm glad you figured it out!

Cool. Thanks for explaining all of that. I was curious to see how you'd respond and you didn't disappoint. I definitely hear where you're coming from and respect what you're doing a great deal. I also appreciate that your feedback is grounded in this sort of specific aesthetic, as it helps when...

Weirdos unite! lol Actually, my only fear lately is not being weird enough. I have some musical ideas brewing though that, should they come to fruition, will put those concerns to rest! RE: Bass. I mean, I should be able to have it be more present here without it muddying things up, but in...

Vocal tracking techniques that might help with pitch?

Hmm. Sounds like it's different for at least some people, but maybe in general, that is true. I'm not really sure. It's one of those things that I don't have any intuition about at all. I swear there was one song I did where I sung much more quietly than normal, and I got a lot of positive...

Vocal tracking techniques that might help with pitch?

Really? Interesting...so you feel your range decreases when you sing more quietly?

ChuckD!!! Good to hear from you man. Saved your site to my favorites. Love the pics. Ah, someone wants more bass! Good. That's what I wanted to hear. When I mixed this, I really had no sense of the room, and in retrospect, it seems a little bass-lite. That part could drive the song more I...

Aw, you're just saying that 'cause I cited you as an influence. lol Actually, you probably didn't even notice that in the novel I wrote last night! I had to look up strident to be sure. I've heard that word before of course, but never bothered to make certain what it meant. Yeah, that's...

Vocal tracking techniques that might help with pitch?

Cool, thanks for that. I think that may be true for me as well? I seem to remember singing one tune years ago at a lower, conversational level (because others were sleeping nearby or something) and was surprised how good it sounded afterwards. Never went back to that though for some reason. lol...

Tall Order with easlern and ibleedburgundy

Well, listening to this quite loud through HD280 phones, I can certainly see where you're coming from with your comments on my mixes (which I really appreciate). This is much more open and airy, with much better clarity and separation. Very well done. Aesthetically, depending on style, I think...

The Iron Fist (first song for upcoming album)

Ditto on the guitar/synth sound. Love the way it's panned too. There seems to be a huge level/tone gap between the lower and higher vocal parts. The higher parts are a bit piercing, but I prefer them in terms of serving as a counterpart to the instruments. Iron Fist is a cool title.

You know, actually he usually has shit taste, but in this case he was spot on! Seriously about the sink mic though? Like a distant, mono room mic? Cool.

    Soulful rock ballad V.2

Oh, I'm sure they are! I don't know anything about plugs. I just thought "nectar elements" was a funny and very ambiguous name. Could just as easily be, "ambrosia particles". Sounds like nectar is like the brand name though, and elements is the particular effect or package of effects. Again...
