Brand new reel to reel decks ?

......."Things are done by individuals (just people) not by big corporations..." Actually, that's what I said. The next machines on the boards are being made by individuals and small boutique companies rather than the large companies that could mass produce. Direct sales, 5%-10% above...

Brand new reel to reel decks ?

Here's my take after sitting around, talking extensively with both Studer and Tascam at the Namm show over the past week.... Look at all this and get things into perspective from the manufacturing standpoint. Studer still has 25 a824 24 tracks left from the run of 100 made two years ago...

    No Lovin' from TaSCAM... Again

......"Cakewalk, Sonar, Sonic Foundry, Halion, all will generally excellent results..." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- And of course you DON"T have Gigastudio installed on the same computer with all that stuff, right? I've had Gigastudio in it's various...

    Damn Accessory 2 Cables

The connectors are standard. The cable wiring itself is the tricky part. Here's the challenge.... it's the wiring on one end...the reverse wiring on the other end..and the one wire that has to be shielded away from all the others in the weird acc2 design. As the acc2 schematic shows...

    Damn Accessory 2 Cables

That might not be a bad price. I vaguely remember acc2 prices were way higher when Tascam U.S had them for sale. There's a place over in West Hollywood and a place in O.C that do a lot of oddball Tascam stuff, including acc2 cables (last time I checked). I never did buy from them, but I...

does someone want to make me a test tape?

........"we need to have a forum where we can discuss preamps, compressors, and all that stuff (even A/D conversion) from the perspective of an analogger. that would be sweet....." ------------------------------------------------------------- Why not just discuss it here in the analog area...

    tascam mrs16

Isn't it illegal in most states to have a mrs at 16? Speaking of threads that have nowhere to go, whatever happened to Walters?

    Type of inputs on MSR24-S??

Yes, the 24 is rca. Machine to machine should work unless the source machine is sending signal at way extreme levels, overloading the 24 track inputs...not a likely scenario, but that's the possible situation where you'd need to get a mixer etc between the two recorders.

    Damn Accessory 2 Cables

If you don't want to source the parts yourself (the weird cable shield is the hard part..the Japanese company that made them for Tascam went under ten years ago)...and you want to spend less than a hundred bucks for a pair of acc2 cables, here's what you do (and this is no joke)... 1. Get the...

    TSR-8, elproblemo

......"Ok, out of the blue the right tension rod on my TSR-8 "jumps" when I press play and in turn pulls the tape which raises the pitch momentarily. This has never happened before. Any ideas?..." -------------------------------------------------- Yes, tape tension adjustment gets out of whack...

    TSR-8, elproblemo

...."PS. Still looking for the RC-408 remote so I can get rid of my MTS-1000 midiizer (which I'm using purely for the remote fuction). Anyone have one for sale or work out some sort of trade?..." ----------------------------------------------------------------- Well...THAT might be interesting...

    synchronizing 2 tsr-8s

With 2 tsr8's, all you need is on box...either an Mts1000 (Midiizer) or ats500...either one. Either one was specifically designed for controlling/synchronizing Tascam msr/tsr machines perfectly. The e series was invented for synching non-Tascam machines with Tascam machines and predated the...

thought i'd try new digital - WRONG

I'm not big on Focusrite in any of their configurations. Clones or otherwise. At the low end price point, the Echo audiofire interfaces are nice. I've used both versions of those although I still primarily opt for pci. You didn't really mention your budget, but the Apogees with 002r is nice...

    Panning on 60's Recordings

It wasn't a style....it was a procedure done after the master tapes were turned in to the record companies....a move that infuriated most every artist/producer that it happened to. And in later years, instruments getting "nudged" to weird places in the stereo mix was simply a result of the...

Any Tascam M3700/32 users out there?

Okay, next things to try.... 1. A test to verify the console is set in a correct gain-staging structure...to narrow down that THAT isn't why smpte whine is getting through....... All faders, sends, trims, returns set to zero. All of them..channels..little faders..subs...master. All mutes...

Any Tascam M3700/32 users out there?

I have two 3700's that I bought new in 91 or so. (32-in versions each with JL Cooper add-on circuitboard for the extended capability automation). I have no problems with smpte noise although I did experience this years ago..IE:.....I DO know how that obnoxious smpte whine gets into the signal...

Is it true about the Tascam bbs forum?

Folks sometimes forget that "Tascam" isn't really an entity or company unto itself. On paper yes...but not r-e-a-l-l-y. Tascam is just a division of the Teac behemouth......which In general, is doing very very well globally. Tascam is a separate company on paper, but that's it. It was...

    Midiizer/TSR-8

The 408 didn't care about the dip switch settings since it wasn't a serial protocol item. The 408 remote simply hard wired into the transport/arming electronics. The basics of the Midiizer with one machine are this... With Midiizer and tsr8 power off, hook up the accessory 2...

    MCI sound?

I used to go down to Criteria in Miami a lot during my college years. I knew Howie Albert and he'd throw reels onto the MCI machines and play things for me that were being recorded there (local stuff, not the BeeGees, Eric Clapton etc masters..which I'm sure even he didn't have the key to get...

    Modular rack?

If you're buying, for example, a new Neve 1073, 1081 reissue type thing, you can buy the rack/power supply at that time. 2-unit and 4-unit spaces are common. Same thing applies to most all other manufacturers. If you're buying modules used and they don't come with the racking, you can get...
