Can I use omni small diaphragm condenser mics for XY stereo far away pointing?

Going back to the original question..... It's useful to know how a cello radiates sound at different frequencies when placing the mics - see below:-

Can I use omni small diaphragm condenser mics for XY stereo far away pointing?

No I'm not - Blumline is X/Y. But X/Y is not necessarily Blumlein. ;) But wide-cardioid, super-cardioid and hyper-cardioid are *all* X/Y if used like that, as a coincident pair. And Hyper-cardioids used X/Y can give very good results. Yes - cardioids are probably the best option inmany...

    Sennheiser E385 problems.

If it's an e385 it's a Chinese copy and is rubbish. If it's an e835 and a genuine Sennheiser (yes, there are crap Chinese fakes around) the copper wire around the capsule is the hum-bucker coil (ie: a coil wound in reverse so that any outside interference is picked up by both coils and cancels...

Just bought a new mic and downloaded Reaper - what should I use for connecting a mic?

We can't help much without knowing what mic. you have bought.

Which Pop filter should i purchase?

"Hydrophobic" means that it rejects water - and there *are* open-cell foams that do this. Spit is not water - but hydrophobic foam is easy to rinse out in warm water to clean out any spit deposits and it will dry very quickly (as it's hydrophobic).

Can I use omni small diaphragm condenser mics for XY stereo far away pointing?

No - you are wrong about this - you can use any directional mic. in X/Y - but you should *not* use omni.

Which Pop filter should i purchase?

It actually is unbiased but is unlikely to be seen as so - which is why I linked to an independent review, instead of spouting myself; and that review also praises the Rycote as well as the Håkan. And I'm open about what I do - it's all in my profile. They are effective at stopping pops - and...

Which Pop filter should i purchase?

Certainly works well at stopping pops, but nylon pop filters do colour the sound at the higher end.

    copyright of original song

ISRC codes are for the record company - each different mix will have a different ISRC code. The record company has to be registered and the code is for when the music is released. This is not a good idea for copyrighting music.

    copyright of original song

What country? it makes a difference. Though legally (as has been said) your original music is considered yours as soon as you create it - but you need to prove it.

    Need help replacing wireless microphone/lavalier

VHF systems are rarely used nowadays - mainly dou to the fact that they are now more expensive than UHF, have long antennas (because of the lower frequencies) and are more prone to licking up interference. Personally I would go for a Sennheiser G3 system. The new Sennheiser 2.4GHz (NB: *not*...

Which Pop filter should i purchase?

Neither - nylon ones can colour the sound and metal ones can have a resonance. I use the foam pad ones - Sound On Sound review.

    Rode M5 or NT5?

But reasonable if what is suggested is in the same ball-park price-wise and a better solution is obtained. Very often "newbies" are only acquainted with the mass-market brands and may miss other solutions that can be in the same price bracket, so this is sensible - as long as the new...

A good mic for or under $20

Actually - "Good mic" and $20 are DEFINITELY not synonymous with one another. If you can buy it for $20, it cost less than $5 to make - probably only $3 or $4

What microphone should I use for recording acoustic and electric guitar?

Almost certainly there was a short gun above his head and just out of shot (the normal way of doing these things), so it's only a foot or two away. The guitar probably had a floor mic. by the amp.

    Rode M5 or NT5?

The NT 5 is a nice little, inexpensive, cardioid SDC that is good value for money. An added advantage is that you can also buy the omni heads designed for the NT 55 and swap them with the cardioid heads on the NT 5 for use when recording piano (for example). For recording a grand piano, a...

Mic stand suggestions for heavy mics?

Latch Lake MicKing 1100 That is a *heavy* mic. and the lady is 5' 8" tall, to give you an idea of height. The MicKing 1100 is a heavy, superbly engineered, stand that will take a very heavy mic. without droop - I have actually seen, at a show, a bar with about 5 heavy mics. all supported by...

    Help Identifying These Monitors

They are Tannoy "Reveal" monitors and were OK, relatively inexpensive, monitors for the home studio. If they are in good nick and work fine, the price seems reasonable.

    Analog Cassette to Digital Transfer

Clean and demagnetise the heads before starting - and it's best to fast wind the cassette all the way through a couple of times to make sure it's wound properly and to get rid of any stickiness.
