One thing I don't understand: If the snare is being heard on both sides, wouldn't it then, therefore, be in the middle??? (or close to it?) The close snare mic and the under-snare mic are centered, and the room mic is centered. I must be missing something, or not understanding properly.

Police Truck - Dead Kennedys cover......

Excellent. Sounds very good. Don't know the song, but you certainly nailed the DK thing through and through.

It IS amazing the way that changing the drum-mix affects the mix as a whole. As usual, we learn something new with every recording we make. Coming along, coming along. . .

Styx? It's just kind of funny because neither Supercreep nor myself are Styx fans, really. I don't think I could even name one of their songs or album titles. Doesn't one of their songs start something like, "Oh, mama, I can something something something blah blah blah." And then it gets...

    Latin Thing

Very sweet. I was listening to the original version and was going to suggest giving the bass a little more 'attack' (no surprise coming from me!). The second version definitely sounds better. What kind of bass is it, and how was it recorded?

    Neil Peart

Well, apparently it doesn't matter what you play or listen too. If you're a Rush fan at all, you're complacent. Period. No exceptions. No excuses. :D

Nice! Very well done. Great sounding recording. The snare is the only thing that bothers me. I'd say it's too compressed--it's all snap with virtually no 'after-ring'. Acoustic guit sounds gorgeous. Vocals are great. I'm also curious to find out if this is a band, or a recording project...

You're a real piece of work Mr. Zealot. If you would like credit for not 'insulting' an individual, but more like 100,000 people all at once, then that's exactly how I'll credit you. You explicitly and clearly stated that all Rush fans over the age of 30 have become complacent in their musical...

    Neil Peart

Obervation, view, opinion--whatever. I'm beginning to suspect that drumzealot had his heart broken by a rush-fan girl-friend, or was abandoned by rush-fan parents, or something like that. He seems to be irrational and biased and judgemental.

Whatever you say, chief. The Rush shows I've been to were attended mostly by people in their 30's and 40's. Your observations don't seem to match mine. But it sounds like you've got it all figured out. You know who's complacent and who's not from someone's interest in one particular band...

Beautiful. There's nothing to balk at here because everything is doing what it needs to do. Nice and spacy and somber. Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about your friend.

Wow. What a narrow and highly judgemental view. In my opinion, it sounds like you appreciate only one tiny little portion of everything that music is. Too bad for you. Poll choice: None of the above

    The Thief

Everyone: thanks for taking the time to listen and comment; it's very helpful. I'd just like to make sure we're all talking about the same song--one person mentioned 'the solo', and there is no solo, guitar or otherwise, in 'The Thief'. As Casey said, we're tinkering with this a bit more...

I showed up last night exactly when the last panel went up on the ceiling. I stared up with my jaw hanging for about 2 minutes before I could even say anything. And then, all I could say was, "Shit. . . Holy shit. . . This is. . ." I'm still at a loss for words. This is soooooo frikkin cool...

New monitoring setup. Help me out with a balance comment.

Hey Tim!!! Just got a chance to listen (on headphones). I have to agree with what has been said so far--I think they've covered it: Too much hiss, and maybe just a tad too much low-mids. I'm not sure a boost of higher frequencies is in order, though. I'd try taming the low-mids first and...

Looking very, very good!! Nice pics, brotherman. I haven't been out there in a long time, but I'll get to see it in person tomorrow. Can't wait. This is going to be soooooo awesome. Wait for it. . . almost ready. . . there ought to be a "ding!" any minute now. . .
