- I write the song on acoustic guitar and find a vocal melody by humming it out. Then I'll go back and write lyrics to fit melody and phrasing.
- Record scratch track of acoustic gtr w/ lead vox over midi click or basic drum loop. This gives me guidance in song for the rest of tracks. Then...
When recording distorted guitars, I usually record the second track with a different tone to fill any void in the frequency spectrum then pan tracks at 10/2 o'clock. Also mixing in acoustic or clean tone on a third track adds some clarity..of course it depends on the song as well.
I would keep using CEP 2. I had Acid Pro 3.0 and never used it much because it's lack of multitrack recording. Also CEP's effects sound better to me. You might want to upgrade your soundcard though. Echo mia and Emu 1212 aren't bad for the money.
Same here. Vox mono and acoustic guitar stereo. If you want a good acoustic sound Taylor214, try recording with two small diaphragm condensor mics. One pointing at 12th fret, the other over right shoulder (if right handed)pointing down at soundhole..but watchout for phase problems.
Vocals and rhythm of your playing are really good, but hihats are too loud. Do I not hear a bass guitar? It could really help fill the bottom.
Keep it up. Your other songs are not too bad either.
I prefer using the Wizoosounds drum samples in Kontakt or Battery with an akai mpd-16. It seems much more versatile than canned loops. However, for those with limited rhythm and/or want a quick beat, loops are great.
Kontakt or Battery from native instruments are both great vst samplers for plugging acoustic drum samples. Sources for decent acoustic samples include: www.sonicimplants.com and www.wizoosounds.com
I purchased a presonus eureka last week and almost went with the voicemaster pro. So far I have no complaints, but not trying out the vp is getting the best of me. I've heard it sounds great with vocals, but what about acoustic guitar and bass? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
