I work at an aerospace company. I drew up the tooling, sent it to the machine shop.
Once the tooling was done i gave it to an elastometrics Engineer that works for me and he tried different compounds until we got just what we wanted. Finally settled on a Hypalon compound.
Welcome.
I have an exemplary specimen of a Tascam 38 (8 track 1/2") that I don't use. The single flaw is the missing emblem on the head stack cover.
Had a spongey pinch roller. I had tooling made and re molded the pinch roller, it is top notch.
I live in San Diego, my work is in LA...
This thread got me thinking (dangerous). I use Studio One as my DAW but started on garage band. I just opened it (GB) up and was able to generate a bass guitar track fairly easily despite never trying it. New track (software instrument), select the guitar sound you want from all of the basses...
Distance from neighbors. My studio may have shortcomings, but it doesn't have, is I can have a full black metal going full blast at 2AM, and the little sound that leaks out can't be heard by anyone.
My big DDA uses different colors for the knobs and different colored caps, makes for plenty of combinations! I don't know, does Tascam, sorry, did Tascam make different colors for the bodies? Or are they all putty? Red for input seems fairly common.
To help the group help you, a couple of questions:
You want to record "many different tracks", do you want to be able to do them all at once? Or one or two at a time?
Is your electronic piano capable of MIDI output? It needs to be if you want to transform the sounds to different instruments...
I use the plastic paints designed for car interiors with great success on all things plastic. I am also lucky enough to have an auto body supply store just down the street. They will even mix and or match colors with the plastic paint so the pallet is basically infinate!
I like the center...
Whats your time worth to you? You aren't going to get more for it by "returning it to an as built condition".
Even leaving the Xfrms in place and repairing the other wiring...how many hours before you exceed the delta of what you paid for it and what you can get for it?
Tails out doesn't prevent print through. Print through on a tape stored heads out precedes the original signal so if you are playing back and going through a silent section you will hear a pre-echo of the next passage, which will occur in one revolution of the supply reel. Tails out on the...
Thats it. GB "software instruments" expect a MIDI input. Live instrument is for, well live instruments, in this case your piano.
GB has come a long way in its recent versions. It is not a full fledged DAW, but can yield surprising results. It isn't a bad place to learn as most everything you...
Another quick and dirty: put a simple HP amp in the HP circuit. As long as it has a level control it can act as an attenuator as well as an amplifier. Use the 388 mon out control to set your comfortable speaker level. Personally I'd set the mon out at 12:00 and then just the TC until the...
Well makes sense. When the 35v went, the current was probably high enough through the "fuzzy" connector(s) to "fix" the connection (nothing like a little arc to help continuity). We've probably experienced this is one way or the other. My truck radio has a channel that drops volume and gets...
I think its down to two things mainly for me. More square footage and more mics.
I have a great little facility but sure could use some more room. I actually have a 2000 square foot steel out building to convert, but to do it would require a lottery win'
Currently I have 3 2" 24 track...

Statements like the 70dB range "for the VERY best tape machines" are mis-informative. A battery powered Nagra beats that number handily. Specs for a tape machine coupled with Dolby SR are about 110dB, so again...
