Another 'awkward' chinese mic - and something new?

There's no denying that things are unusual, uncomfortable, etc. Whatever's going on down South of me makes sense for the US but as a Canadian resident I do have to cope with the adverse effects. So far, the American voter in me is satisfied but the Canuck is tired of our upstart liberal...

ARC 4 - Advanced room correction plug-in and measurement microphone.

IK tech support is the best 🤟 Some DAWs -- REAPER for example -- have a "monitor" section where you can put analyzers and correction algos like ARC without them affecting the render output. Definitely interested in hearing the difference!

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

@rob aylestone have you ever generated frequency response charts for your knock-off mic reviews? Not sure what goes into that kind of thing but might be useful to know whether the charts featured in the listings are accurate? Just a thought!

    Mixing/Mastering A Short Film?

Holy! I'd give it a try this summer but can't confirm just now, plans are still pending. I've done the composing/recording side of audio for film before (professionally) but not mixing. Definitely interested though. I'd be glad to look at what you've got.

ARC 4 - Advanced room correction plug-in and measurement microphone.

I haven't used the standalone ARC but my monitors are IK Multimedia and have the algorithm built-in -- connect the mic to the speaker, press a button, 3 frequency sweeps “swooaiyeeeet” and it's calibrated. Mixing on that system is pretty tonally reliable in my (humble) opinion, and that's in an...

    FRFR Speaker Question for Keyboards

This is a bit more specific than the earlier-mentioned “pretty good VSTs” and I would suggest revisiting the amp option. Hear me out -- Vintage keyboards, like the Rhodes or Wurlitzer, were often routed through amps, often the Fender Twin Reverb. Hammond of course used Leslies BUT their only...

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

That may well be; I'm sure China will be looking to diversify their markets a bit and with luck I'll get a good cheap microphone sometime soon!

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

We're a tiny fraction of the market and import fees are generally higher in Canada than in the US for example. Items under $200 do not incur taxes or duties in the US, while the Canadian GST/HST tax adds 5%-14% across the board.

remote string recording services - anyone got experience?

I know Fiverr gets mixed reviews but I remember seeing an ensemble on that platform which produced some very impressive samples (for context, I'm an award-winning string player) and offered a lot of customization. Also, I assume you've done your research budget-wise?

Another 'awkward' chinese mic - and something new?

The seller that sells the BF-105i has quite a catalog, including an Austrian Audio handheld clone which I am interested in. Also the prices seem a bit more within a range that projects a Behringer vibe -- good quality but budget-friendly.
