What should my next microphone(s) be?

Agree with @CoolCat and would add that SDCs are a bit forgotten IMO -- they're currently the only type of studio mic I own and they perform in as versatile a way as the LDCs I don't own but have used. Any source will be as well-captured by a medium-range SDC as by an LDC of same price. BTW mine...

    My new posture

Wow -- @rob aylestone and other mods, make sure you have a laugh at @FurryZA's post above (in relation to Manslick's lyrics) before banning that date app spammer!

Agreed, vintage hip-hop has its merits.

what does a license mean when purchase a beat

I would too, but again... Hip-hop and other sample-based musicians don't usually follow conventions like that.

I dislike it as much as I dislike Doja Cat.

@ecc83 this is not about software, but rights to use someone else's music for a rap.

Making money off idle studio space!?

@60's guy @TAE There's only one truly realistic "harmonizer", and it isn't commercially available: https://news.mit.edu/2017/jacob-collier-harmonizes-with-mit-0224

Making money off idle studio space!?

I strongly dislike the whole Eilish image and the "Pop" subgenre of pop music as a whole. Like @Papanate I would be wary of putting too much faith in stories -- "humble beginnings" are known to be exaggerated by artists of all stripes. But still, I (somewhat grudgingly) acknowledge that they are...

Making money off idle studio space!?

Well, I have to disagree there. I worked on a project that was paid for by someone else than me, that involved me recording at a guy's home for an afternoon. His piano was in the living room and the studio itself occupied the basement. Really good setup (in the studio), nice gear -- way better...

    TIP eat popcicles

So, not "Strawberry Ice". Huh! I used to be engrossed in a 1930s series of children's novels, and they call it "ice". Must have evolved?

    TIP eat popcicles

Interesting! We call those "freezies" here in Canada. Do you say "ice cream" or simply "ice"?

    TIP eat popcicles

How does it help -- mouth clicks? I recently discovered that cold air boosts the top of my vocal register up a solid fourth. Maybe I'll track my next song outside in below-freezing weather!

Can you ID this mic ?

It's on the far side of the camera view, so there's some lens distortion going on (that's why it looks oblong). But yeah, PR48 is the one I reckon, with the XLR input on the side. Anyway, I was really just curious, never even heard of Heil before. Thanks!

Can you ID this mic ?

What's this mic? I spotted it in a Jacob Collier video -- it's not actually being used while in the shot, but appears to be over a drum that has a brush on it?
