Agree with @CoolCat and would add that SDCs are a bit forgotten IMO -- they're currently the only type of studio mic I own and they perform in as versatile a way as the LDCs I don't own but have used. Any source will be as well-captured by a medium-range SDC as by an LDC of same price.

Well, I have to disagree there. I worked on a project that was paid for by someone else than me, that involved me recording at a guy's home for an afternoon. His piano was in the living room and the studio itself occupied the basement. Really good setup (in the studio), nice gear -- way better...

I recently discovered that cold air boosts the top of my vocal register up a solid fourth. Maybe I'll track my next song outside in below-freezing weather!
It's on the far side of the camera view, so there's some lens distortion going on (that's why it looks oblong). But yeah, PR48 is the one I reckon, with the XLR input on the side. Anyway, I was really just curious, never even heard of Heil before. Thanks!
