A mistake... or a happy accident? :D Yeah there's also a lot of smeary delay in there which doesn't help the clarity. I always remember being hugely impressed with the distorted drums on Foreigner's Head Games and Bowie's Low. But yeah the distortion on the drums on those albums never extended...

Guitar tones are great, remind me a little of early Sabbath. The vocals sound good but I'm not gone on the melody. Screaming lead break very cool

The cymbal/hats distortion is likely coming from the room mic that I smashed through a fast 1176 style compressor. I can easily unblend that, maybe keep it for a special occasion. Good tip!

The vocals are great. The drums need to be more solid so they propel the song along. I think a tighter groove would really lift this. Composition is cool. Guitars sound good.

Yeah it's got a live groove to it. I never heard the original, rockin track. It's well recorded with good energy. Nice job strat, it's a lot of fun doing covers occasionally

I've always loved distortion. Been experimenting recently adding different types of distortion at different stages of the recording. Too much? You be the judge :D

Cheers Trip. Yeah after @Manslick gave me grief about the underwater vocal I removed a delay and a reverb instance, seems to sit better now. I've put an effect envelope on the drums too, give the vocal some room

I like that warm bass sound, it underpins the other instruments nicely. Pretty funky almost Steely Danesque at times. Cool jam

Mix is not bad. When mixing synths it can helpful to EQ out frequencies that are clashing with other instruments like guitars or the kick. You can also safely hi pass the synth and recover headroom that way

Thanks for the feedback guys, good stuff. I admit I got pretty slap happy with the delays etc. but the original is pretty well drowned as well. You think it's just the choice of delay/reverb I'm using? Normally I mix everything dry as a bone so I don't know what the hell I'm doing with reverb...

LOL yeah personal hygiene is quite underrated. I guess it's like a 50 year old on tinder. All the good ones were snapped up 30 years ago. It's a fun tune. Good luck...the search continues
