    Rock On v2

Thanks dobro. Great tips thanks Kev. I've backed the bass off a tad and pushed the vocal as far as I dare. The weird thing is it's variable even though I never change the latency. One time it will record fine, next time it's out by 250ms

    Rock On v2

Thanks MS. Agreed it is intrusive. I can easily deal with that Just at the intro or all the way through? Maybe more of a timing thing? For some reason when I record guitar/bass it lags in the daw and I have to move it forward. I'll try nudging it a bit more

    Rock On v2

Yeah bass & vocal is mostly all there is in the original and they do blend well. I need to find that formula. Thanks for coming back DM Yep it's weird alright, so sparse. But it's such a great song. LOL ok there's your damn guitar solo :D. I think it actually works quite well there Also agree...

    Rock On v2

So after all the feedback pointing out the obvious flaws I stripped the mix back and started again. Removed the echo on the drums, redid the bass, hopefully fixed the pitchy vocal bits and tried to generally get everything back in the same room. Think I'm getting closer. New mix up top if you...

For those interested, the workflow for the recording of my “Alan Parsons Project” inspired track.

Yah very smooth. Performances, tones, mix top drawer all round. Super clean production, AP would approve

An Alan Parsons cover - just longer than the original.

Nice rob. Not familiar with the original so I can't mark you on that but nice tones and well balanced

    Ahhh Chirbuli!

Onions for breakfast? I don't think so Tim. Guitars are fantastic, great sound and performances, high energy groove. Whole band is on point. No problems with the mix either. Nice job

    Hot Soccer Mom

Think I hear what Papanate is talking about. It's like the kick/bass is lagging the guitars at some points. Cool tune, reminds me a little bit of Squeeze. Vocals are great

    Save Me

I'd put this into the 'pleasant cruisy tune' bracket and the the changeup at 2.00 hit. Very cool, great groove. Vocals & drums spot on. Quite old school too, don't get to hear much like nowadays

New song slightly remixed. Would appreciate feedback.

I like the vocal, and how it propels/gets propelled by the bass and the busy percussion. Kind of a West Indian vibe. Good use of delays and effects. Catchy tune for sure. Mix could maybe use a little air otherwise no issues here. Nice job

    Rock On v2

Wow thanks for all the considered responses and insight. The drum delay reminded me of the sparse 'dub' tracks they used to play in the basement record shops I frequented in Dublin back in the 80s' so I didn't stress too much about the timing. I find bass a challenge, both to play and mix...

Started mixing lead single for my rock musical (Musical Theater/Hard Rock/Prog Rock)

My immediate impression is that the vocal should be more upfront and the guitar on the left should be notched back a tad. Interesting jam, I like the vocal melody. Cool track

    No Regrets

Very tasteful production. I initially though this might be a cover of Midge Ure's cover of No Regrets. Is that a synthetic vocal? Sounds fabulous if it is, kudos to the vocalist if not

Lazy River -New master by Gary Brun-

Virtuoso stuff right there. I can't conceive of ever producing anything with this level of tightness and clarity. You gotta be happy with this one

    high Octane Guitar Instrumental; "Silverstone"

Bit of a slow burner this one. Gets more engaging as it goes along. Well played and nice tones. Did you mic an amp for this one?

New song: Get It Out. (Accidental ska song!)

Not really a horn guy but those sound good to me, I'd never tell they weren't real (not that that's important). Agree with Trip the drums could come forward. Good track

    Gargling sweet whispers

I like how it's quite random at the start and then locks into a groove for a while, then back to a loose vibe. It's a nice hook when it comes around again

**Edit** **Edit** Thanks again to everyone who helped me out on this. Final mix, Lets not make perfect the enemy of the good :D

    Drop Dead D

Hey Nola. The guitars are recorded thru my line6 amp which excels in harshness :D . Yeah I lifted the bass a little, might have overdone it though...
