Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

BTW, I have that ecc83 dude on ignore. But that is interesting that your amps you pick has toroids. Was that deliberate? Torroids can be efficient when chosen and installed correctly. The drawback to them is they can operate hot if they are not spaced off the chassis correctly. But there is...

    Guitar pot question

I find them nostalgic. But I do find it interesting that the text books I learned tube theory in college long ago are even harder to find. But this was one of those classroom text books: http://www.tubebooks.org/books/peters_theory.pdf Of course people would freak out if I broke out in a...

    Transformerless SM58

I find this a hive mind mentality than anything. Especially when I let an artist taste test different mics on stage and most notice how much of a POS they truly are, so most end up with something not a SM58 by their choice.

    Guitar pot question

No problem. Curiosity is a flavor of life. Without going through the formula for calculating that resistor, that is most likely not in those books in the link above, It would be a small value on a triode to begin with. So they save about $5 a unit not adding a 300-500 ohm resistor there. If...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I see how very helpful they were. So, it looks like this is going to be another backwards engineer so that a correct transformer could be used. Must have been a marketing thing to build something like this in a 1U rack, because any tube engineer in their right mind would never use such a small...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Oh so this is a particularity. If you have the transformer specifications, I might be able to find one or even get someone like Hammond to add it into their inventory. There might be one by someone who builds it for a 6bq5 stereo amp somewhere.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Don't bash yourself in the head over it. Unless you have dealt with the particularities of these devices for years you wouldn't know some of the back shop practices. I've been a tech for many years in a lot of different sectors and there is always learning curves and practices. When I served in...

    Transformerless SM58

I can relate to that as I try different mics on someone when I record them. When I do live sound, most of the time I have to settle with what the PA guy sat out. But on my personal PA, I use sennhieser mics because they work well in the untreated spaces I end up setting it up.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I pulled up the wrong schematic to look at the first time. Sorry about that. The transformer in this unit, you change out. According to Marshall, the part number is 64591A. But since it doesn't show up on searches its a custom wound transformer that you have to contact Marshall to get it.

    Guitar pot question

After looking at the schematics, yes, its caused by the grid stop resistor not being there.

    Guitar pot question

Without giving amp examples, it would be because the grid for the tube afterwards don't have what is called the grid stop resistor. So what happens is the grid element, which is a wire loop wrapped around a support frame inside turns into an electromagnet that attracts the heater emissions from...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I would have to define in in this context to keep this concise, but a well trained technician in a repair shop environment would always check bias after installing tubes. Even if they were the ones that suppose to be the correct ones accordingly to the manufacturer to use. Because even though...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

no, I used Falstad circuit simulator to quickly draw the schematic, then I just screen captured a section of that window.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

A real tech would just do it and not tell anyone and there is nothing special with modding a simple voltage divider circuit. Even though I think a bias balance circuit as well as the bias voltage adjust circuit should be the standard for fixed bias push-pull tube output circuits. But of course...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

The stock Marshall has a universal transformer with taps for 230, 120V and 100V.

    Transformerless SM58

SM58 and SM57 are really low quality mics that became a standard for live people because most music stores carried them back in the day before internet. They are poor performers for recording and now these days there are better mics to use for live too. Termination resistor mods, I do in mic...

    Electrical Interference Diagnosis

First thing I would ask you is if the basement is carpeted. Because concrete floors make that sound when cable connections are touching them. Also, the mic stand can do this if the pole in the center is touching the concrete floor. As far as electricity, I would get a nicer power supply. I would...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Its not really a tube brand more than finding ones with a certain gain characteristic. Which is always been the downside to a non-adjustable fixed bias circuit. Just like Mesa Boogie amps. They market a set of tubes for them they selected so that they would work with that bias voltage. So when...

Does anyone know how to use fl?

Other than setting up custom hotkey processes, the first thing to learn to do is turn off the daw monitoring so it doesn't echo.

USB Extender over Ethernet vs. Active USB cable

usb port was put to sleep but hardware is not re-initializing on wake. Its a flaw that is OS related to sleep wake mode not keeping the usb devices connected but in "ejected" state. Try in a console terminal: sudo pmset disksleep 0 sudo pmset sleep 0 sudo pmset autopoweroff 0
