    Inhaler…Hardcore Punk about Asthma

Hey, it’s all been done and sung…so here’s some hardcore punk about Asthma. I made it to tease my drummer friend, because that’s what friends do. I humbly present to you…INHALER! Take a deep breath, 2 puffs of Albuterol, and enjoy 2 minutes of noise! And of course, input is appreciated. Dense...

    Distortion

I liked it; all the distortion adds a vibe for sure. All that distortion is totally fine…it’s an effect. I think the difference between an amateur distorted recording and a professional distorted recording would probably come down to the performance and arrangement. I’ve heard some terrible...

Punk gone acoustic - Original Tune (Everyone is Getting Older)

I definitely like the energy with the bass and drums coming in halfway through the song. I definitely want to keep the guitars acoustic, otherwise it starts to become too close to the original. Listening to the mix in my car this morning it’s clear the bass and drums are too loud and have a...

Punk gone acoustic - Original Tune (Everyone is Getting Older)

I threw Drums and Bass on there. Putting in drums after the fact is always harder for me; not perfect but close enough! I even jumped in with snare and floor tom accented on “Let’s Go!” just for you! Probably not a great mix at this point; my laptop is so bogged down the CPU meter sits at 93%...

My 13 yo daughter wrote an original tune “Reaching for the Moon” - check it out yo

H Haha! I had to look that up. I’m guessing most kids these days know nothing about yo-yos. Cradle, sleeping, and walking the dog were the extent of my yo-yo trick vocab back in 4th and 5th grade. Good ol’ Duncan imperial!

Punk gone acoustic - Original Tune (Everyone is Getting Older)

Awesome…I’ve never been told I know what I’m doing, lol! I’ll throw some drums and bass on there and see what happens!

Punk gone acoustic - Original Tune (Everyone is Getting Older)

I was thinking about adding drums and bass, but keeping all the guitars acoustic. That’s would be a great spot to jump in with the other instruments. Great suggestion!

My 13 yo daughter wrote an original tune “Reaching for the Moon” - check it out yo

Thanks for the kind words. We just recorded the scratch tracks for her new song “Imagination” and it’s sounding great. She’ll be singing and playing bass on this one as well. She’s even planning a bass solo, haha! She has been saving her $ and just bought a used MIM HSS Strat. If she learns...

Anyone here ever use a E906 on a guitar cabinet?

I had an e609 and didn’t like it. Too scooped and fizzy with high gain. One of the few mics I’ve ever sold. How does the e906 compare? I’m currently using an sm57 or Audix D2 paired with a beyerdynamic m160 and love the combo. I did really like the e609/e906 form factor though!

Punk gone acoustic - Original Tune (Everyone is Getting Older)

Here’s a tune I wrote years ago and played in my punk band. Then we had to retire it due to eerie circumstances. Basically, the song ended up telling the story of something tragic that ended up really happening to someone close, so we decided we couldn’t play it anymore. In any case, I’ve been...

    Post-rock/instrumental track

Very cool, great vibe. I love this genre…big Explosions in the Sky fan here. I like the 2nd mix more as well. For variety sake (since it’s basically 2 chords and you can’t easily re-record drums) maybe just drop the drums out for a little section towards the late mid section, with some quiet...

Pixie the Brave: the epic saga of when our cat chased away a fox from our front porch (instrumental & doorbell cam photo included!)

Agree with the lead comment (see my post above) Yeah, I think it’s a family with three young foxes. The young ones look very healthy. They stole one of my daughter’s pink water shoes a couple evenings ago. Dang foxes! I wish there was a way to put a video clip on here. It was a pretty funny...

My 13 yo daughter wrote an original tune “Reaching for the Moon” - check it out yo

She’s into musical theatre and you can definitely see the influence! Her next tune is definitely shaping up to be very pop/theatric as well. We worked on it last week but haven’t worked out all the details, then got busy. She’s determined though, so more to come for sure.

Pixie the Brave: the epic saga of when our cat chased away a fox from our front porch (instrumental & doorbell cam photo included!)

Thanks. I agree with the lead comments. I planned the first part of it, but let it become less of the focus and blend for the back half thinking some vocals would be added. It turned out to be an instrumental so a more inspiring lead on the back half is definitely in order.

Pixie the Brave: the epic saga of when our cat chased away a fox from our front porch (instrumental & doorbell cam photo included!)

Here’s a fun instrumental I made a few days ago, right after our cat, Pixie, ambushed a fox on our front porch. I wish it would load the video…it was quite the noisy ruckus! Enjoy, lol! Screenshot from doorbell cam: The little weasel (fox) exploring the back porch: You don’t mess with...

Original Punk Tune - Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’!

All great suggestions, thanks! Looks like you’re in Chicago. A ton of my influences are from Chicago. Screeching Weasel, Riverdales, Methadones, Rise Against, nice!

Vocal Recording and Mixing Advice for Pop Punk / Rock

I’m late to the party here, but I’ve gone through the same struggles trying to get a good pop punk vocal sound. Here are the main things that helped me… 1) Bite the bullet and learn to pitch correct vocals. Get something like Waves Tune where you can do it manually. It lets you pick and choose...

Original Punk Tune - Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’!

To you punk fans out there: I wrote and recorded this the other day and would love to get your thoughts on the mix. I have a few issues with it but I don’t want to sway your opinions. Thanks!
